San Jose Sharks (42-21-9) at Los Angeles Kings (28-39-6), 10:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - San Jose used a franchise-record winning streak to seize control of the Pacific Division. After having that run halted, the Sharks will try to rebound tonight in a test against the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center.

San Jose won 11 straight games to jump into first place in the division, but had that streak ended on Sunday in a 2-1 loss to Edmonton in a shootout. The Sharks haven't lost in regulation since February 20 in New Jersey in what was the club's fifth straight loss.

However, since then the Sharks have posted at least a point in 12 straight and own a three-point edge over Anaheim in the Pacific standings. San Jose is also seven points back of Detroit for the top seed in the West with 10 games left to play.

Patrick Marleau scored the lone goal on Sunday against the Oilers while Evgeni Nabokov stopped 22 shots for the Sharks. Brian Campbell had an assist to give him a goal and five assists in his last four games.

San Jose has still won eight in a row on the road and own the NHL's best mark as the visitor at 25-8-3.

The Kings have lost three of four after Saturday's 2-0 setback in Minnesota. Niklas Backstrom stopped all 24 shots he faced to post his third shutout of the season, as the Wild shut down Los Angeles, 2-0.

Erik Ersberg was solid in defeat, making 27 stops for the Kings, who have also lost eight of their last 10.

Los Angeles has also fell in defeat in four of its last six at home and are 15-18-3 at the Staples Center this year. The Kings begin a three-game road trip in Phoenix on Thursday.

The Kings are actually 3-2-0 against the Sharks this year, but both setbacks have come in Los Angeles. San Jose has won five of eight and seven of its last 11 against LA and have taken four straight and seven of eight in the City of Angels.

Dustin Brown and Anze Kopitar lead the Kings in scoring against the Sharks this year. Brown has three goals and two assists in five games, while Kopitar has a pair of markers and three helpers. Ersberg hasn't faced the Sharks this season.

Joe Thornton has two goals and four assists in five games against the Kings this year, while Milan Michalek has three goals. Nabokov has started all five tests versus Los Angeles, going 2-2-1 with a 2.18 goals-against average.
