New York Rangers (37-24-9) at Florida Panthers (33-31-8), 7:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The New York Rangers will try to post a point in their 14th straight contest tonight, as they visit the Florida Panthers and the BankAtlantic Center.

The Rangers are 10-0-3 in their last 13 tests, and knocked off the Buffalo Sabres, 3-2, in a shootout on Monday. Scott Gomez netted the deciding shootout tally to lift his club.

Jaromir Jagr scored in regulation as did Fedor Tyutin, who posted his first goal in 42 games. Henrik Lundqvist turned away 19 shots for the Rangers, who have won three straight and seven of eight.

New York is third in the Atlantic Division, five points back of first-place New Jersey with 12 games left on the schedule. The Rangers are sixth overall in the East with 83 points.

Defenseman Marek Malik missed Monday's game due to an upper body injury and is questionable for tonight. Fellow blueliner Paul Mara has missed the last seven games due to a facial fracture suffered in late February.

New York has won four straight on the road and plays the middle portion of a three-game swing tonight. The Rangers will be in Tampa Saturday and are 15-11-8 as the visiting club this year.

The Panthers are making one last big effort to get into the postseason picture, and have won a season-high five straight games. That winning run was extended on Wednesday, as Karlis Skrastins' third-period marker proved to be the game-winner in Florida's 4-2 victory over the New York Islanders.

Brett McLean scored in his third straight game and also had an assist to give him four goals and two helpers over his last three tests. Stephen Weiss and Kamil Kreps also scored and Tomas Vokoun made 27 saves for Florida, which hasn't won six straight since a seven-game run from March 17-29, 2006.

Nathan Horton had an assist to run his point streak to six games (three goals, three assists).

Florida's win streak has coincided with the return of center Stephen Weiss, who came back on March 2 after missing six games due to a broken finger. Weiss has two goals and a pair of assists with a plus-six rating since his return.

The Panther's winning run still has them five points out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the East, currently held by Philadelphia. However, Florida has played one more game than the Flyers, who are idle tonight.

Florida's last three wins have come on its current season-long, seven-game homestand. The Panthers have improved to 15-13-7 at home this year and will host Atlanta on Sunday.

The Rangers are 2-0-1 versus the Panthers this year, and the clubs wrap their four-game season series tonight. New York has also won four of six and seven of its last 11 against Florida, though it has dropped two straight in Sunrise.
