Chicago Blackhawks (23-24-5) at Edmonton Oilers (24-26-5), 9 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Chicago Blackhawks will try to put the brakes on a four-game losing streak this evening, when they visit the Edmonton Oilers for a battle between last-place teams at Rexall Place.

The Blackhawks have dropped four straight on the heels of a four-game winning streak and are just 4-9-3 in their last 16 contests. Chicago is last in the Central Division with 51 points and only Los Angeles has less points in the Western Conference with 47.

Chicago's latest setback came in dramatic fashion Saturday in San Jose, as Jeremy Roenick scored in the fifth round of the shootout to lift the Sharks to a 3-2 decision at HP Pavilion.

Roenick broke from the neutral zone and skated wide right, before closing in on Nikolai Khabibulin and beating the netminder clean on a wrist shot that rang just inside the left post. Evgeni Nabokov then gloved a shot by Cam Barker to seal the win for the Sharks.

Patrick Sharp and Duncan Keith scored for Chicago, which continued a seven- game road swing after dropping the first test Wednesday at Colorado. Khabibulin, who ended with 38 saves, has failed to win a game since December 26 and is 0-8-2 since that victory.

The Blackhawks are just 10-11-4 as the visiting team this year and have dropped three straight on the road.

The Oilers, meanwhile, are coming off Monday's decisive win over visiting Calgary. Edmonton notched a 5-0 victory over the Flames as Mathieu Garon stopped all 24 shots he faced to lead the Oilers to just their third win in nine games (3-5-1).

It was the first game for Edmonton since learning that leading scorer Shawn Horcoff will miss the rest of the season in order to have surgery on his ailing left shoulder. Horcoff was leading the Oilers in goals (21) and points (50) this season.

Rookie Sam Gagner and Ales Hemsky each posted a goal and an assist for the Oilers, while Jarret Stoll added a pair of helpers in the win.

Edmonton torched Curtis Joseph in his debut with the Flames. The veteran netminder allowed five goals on 28 shots in his first game since signing a one-year deal with Calgary last month.

The Oilers have just 53 points, but are still only 10 points away from Minnesota for first place in the Northwest.

Tonight marks the end of a four-game homestand for Edmonton, which is 13-14-1 as the host this year.

In other news, a bid to purchase the Oilers was accepted on Tuesday, as Daryl Katz's offer was given the green light by the Edmonton Investors Group LP, which currently owns the club. The transaction, of course, will not become final until it is approved by the NHL.

The Blackhawks and Oilers have split a pair of meetings this year with each club winning on its home ice. Chicago has taken two of three and three of the last five meetings overall, but the Oilers have won four straight against the Blackhawks at home.
