(Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings will conclude a three-game road trip and play their final contest before the All-Star break tonight when they visit the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center.
Detroit has won three in a row, including the first two tests of its swing, and will enter the break with the league's best record. The Red Wings are 36-10-4 and lead the NHL with 76 points, 15 more ahead of second-seeded Dallas in the West.
Ottawa leads the East with 64 points.
On Tuesday in Los Angeles, All-Star Chris Osgood stopped 27 shots for his third shutout of the season and 46th of his career, as the Red Wings topped the Kings, 3-0. Additionally, Osgood, who leads the NHL with a 1.87 goals- against average, notched his 356th career win, breaking a tie with Rogie Vachon for 15th place all-time.
Mikael Samuelsson had a goal and assist, and Tomas Holmstrom and Johan Franzen also scored for the Red Wings, who have won eight of their past nine on the road and are 17-6-2 overall this season as the visiting club.
Despite Osgood's heroics on Tuesday, Dominik Hasek should be between the pipes tonight as the club continues to rotate its two excellent goaltenders. Hasek is 16-7-2 with a 2.16 GAA this year and has been in net for both of Detroit's games against Anaheim this year, going 1-1-0 with a 3.43 GAA.
He stood tall in Detroit's 3-2 season-opening shootout home win over Anaheim on October 3, but was then lit up for five goals in a loss in Anaheim on October 15.
In 23 career starts against the Ducks, Hasek is 10-8-1 with four ties with a 2.18 GAA.
The Red Wings have won five of their last eight against the defending Stanley Cup champion Ducks, but have lost three straight in Anaheim.
The Ducks enter this game coming off of Sunday's 5-2 loss in Dallas. The victory for the Stars vaulted them past Anaheim for first place in the Pacific Division, one point ahead of the Ducks.
Mathieu Schneider and Ryan Getzlaf lit the lamp for the Ducks, who had won a season-high six straight and have scored 26 goals over their last seven games. For Getzlaf, he extended his point streak to 14 games (six goals, 15 assists), the longest current run in the league.
Corey Perry added an assist to give him five goals and seven helpers over a seven-game point streak. Jean-Sebastien Giguere allowed four goals on 26 shots in defeat.
Perry, along with Scott Niedermayer, were both added to the Western Conference All-Star roster on Tuesday, giving the Ducks a conference best four representatives along with Getzlaf and Chris Pronger. The Ducks are 12-3-2 since Niedermayer returned to the lineup and the club acquired Doug Weight.
One player the duo was replacing is Detroit's Henrik Zetterberg, who leads the Red Wings with 28 goals and 61 points, but will rest his sore back instead.
Anaheim is 16-6-4 at home as it has won its last seven games as the host to tie the club record for consecutive home wins, set from March 7-April 4, 2006.
The Ducks begin an epic nine-game road trip on Thursday in Los Angeles.
