(Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche will wrap up their five-game road trip tonight in Tampa, as they visit the Lightning for a battle at St. Pete Times Forum.
The Avalanche have an 8-12-3 record as the visiting team this year, but are 2-2-0 so far on the current swing. After tonight, Colorado will return to Denver for a five-game homestand at the Pepsi Center, where the Avs are 16-6-0 this season.
Colorado has won the last two games on the swing and is coming off Sunday's close victory in Florida. Milan Hejduk scored the lone goal of the shootout and added an assist in regulation as the Avs defeated the Panthers, 4-3, at BankAtlantic Center.
Hejduk, who was the final shooter of the third round, beat Tomas Vokoun with a quick wrist shot low to the stick side to give the Avalanche the extra point.
Andrew Brunette scored twice, while Marek Svatos tallied in regulation for Colorado, which has won three of its last five.
Jose Theodore stopped 30-of-33 shots as he started a fifth consecutive game for the Avalanche.
The Lightning, meanwhile, will try to win back-to-back games for the first time in over a month when they take the ice tonight.
Tampa Bay has won two of its last three contests and is coming off Saturday's win over the Panthers. The Lightning, who recently suffered through a seven- game losing streak, haven't won consecutive games since posting three victories in a row from December 1-6.
Brad Richards had two goals, his first scores in almost a month, as Tampa Bay withstood a furious third-period Florida rally to win, 5-3, at BankAtlantic Center.
Richards' last goal came on December 13 against Calgary and the forward had only recorded five assists since. Nick Tarnasky also had a pair of goals for the Lightning, who won for just the third time in their last 14 games (3-9-2).
Johan Holmqvist made 27 saves to improve to 14-13-4 on the season.
The Lightning are 12-9-2 as the host team this season, but have lost four straight and seven of their last eight at the Forum.
Colorado has won two of the last three meetings with the Lightning and is 5-2 with a tie in the previous eight encounters between the clubs. The Avs last played in Tampa on January 19, 2004 and have won two of three at the Forum.
