Tampa Bay Lightning (16-23-5) at Florida Panthers (20-21-3), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Lightning will try for just their fourth win in 17 games when they visit the rival Florida Panthers tonight at BankAtlantic Center.

The Lightning are 3-10-3 in their last 16 contests and are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings with just 37 points on the season.

Tampa Bay earned a win earlier this week when it beat the Rangers in New York on Tuesday, but the Lightning followed that up with Thursday's home loss to Pittsburgh. Jordan Staal posted two goals and an assist, as the Penguins rolled to a 4-1 triumph at St. Pete Times Forum.

The Lightning had a 12-game winning streak against Pittsburgh snapped, as the Penguins defeated Tampa Bay for the first time since January 17, 2003.

Paul Ranger scored the only goal and Karri Ramo made 25 saves for Tampa Bay, which has lost eight of its last nine contests (1-6-2).

The Lightning have a dreadful 4-14-3 record as the visiting club this season and have lost five of their last six on the road.

Florida, meanwhile, ended a two-game slide with Thursday's close decision in Atlanta. Olli Jokinen's shootout goal completed a late Florida comeback and gave the Panthers a 3-2 victory over the Thrashers at Philips Arena.

Nathan Horton matched Slava Kozlov's goal to start the shootout, and after Thomas Vokoun and Kari Lehtonen alternated saves, Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk, the league's leading scorer, had a chance for the go-ahead tally.

But Kovalchuk's wrister soared wide right of the net, and Jokinen made it hurt when he fired a deliberate wrister past Lehtonen stick-side to give Florida the two points.

Rostislav Olesz and Kamil Kreps scored the regulation goals and Vokoun finished with 26 saves for Florida.

The Panthers are just 9-10-2 as the host this season and are playing the first of back-to-back home games tonight. Florida will also invite Colorado to Sunrise on Sunday.

Tampa and the Panthers have split four meetings this year with each team winning a pair of games on home ice. Florida has taken five of seven and six of the last nine encounters overall.
