New York Islanders (20-17-5) at Calgary Flames (22-15-7), 9 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The New York Islanders will try to avoid matching their longest losing streak of the season tonight, as they visit the Calgary Flames at Pengrowth Saddledome.

The Islanders have lost their last four games, and are in danger of matching a five-game skid set from November 29-December 7 of this season. The club went 0-4-1 in that span.

While New York hasn't been getting wins as of late, it has at least been posting points. The first two setbacks of the Islanders' current slide came in overtime, and after a 4-0 loss in Edmonton on Monday, New York earned another point with a 3-2 shootout loss to Vancouver Tuesday.

The Canucks' Alexander Edler scored the game-deciding goal in the shootout. After two scoreless rounds, Vancouver's Trevor Linden snapped a perfect wrister above the right pad and below the catching glove of Rick DiPietro. Miroslav Satan prolonged the segment when he deked Roberto Luongo with a forehand-backhand move. The shootout went to a sixth round, where Edler beat DiPietro and Luongo denied Trent Hunter to seal the win for Vancouver.

Bill Guerin and Blake Comeau tallied for New York, while DiPietro finished the game with 43 saves.

The Islanders play the fourth test of a five-game road trip tonight, and wrap the swing on Sunday in Ottawa. New York is 7-10-3 this year as the road club.

The Flames had a five-game win streak halted on Tuesday with a 3-1 loss to the streaking Phoenix Coyotes. Alex Tanguay tallied the only goal for the Flames, and Miikka Kiprusoff allowed three goals on 31 shots in the losing effort.

However, Calgary failed to register at least a point for only the second time in its last 18 games overall (12-2-4).

Jarome Iginla was held off the scoresheet, but is still tied for second in the league in goals with 32 while coming in third in points with 60. Iginla, named a starter for the Western Conference All-Star team on Tuesday along with teammate Dion Phaneuf, has eight goals and five assists in 12 career games against the Islanders.

Both Eric Nystrom (face) and Adrian Aucoin (lower body) are questionable for tonight's game for the Flames.

Calgary plays the second of back-to-back home games tonight and are 10-8-6 as the host this season.

The Flames will host the Islanders for the first time since January 15, 2001. New York won that matchup to halt a six-game losing streak in Calgary.

Since that meeting, the two clubs have met three times in New York, with the Flames winning two straight until a 3-2 Islanders' win on January 12, 2006, the most recent meeting.
