Minnesota Wild (23-17-2) at Detroit Red Wings (33-8-3), 7:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings are already the best team in the NHL this season. Now, the club is fully healthy and will try to extend its four- game winning streak tonight, as it hosts the Minnesota Wild at Joe Louis Arena.

Detroit already owns winning streaks of nine and seven games this year, and leads the entire league with 33 wins and 69 points. The Red Wings extended their current run with a 1-0 victory over Colorado on Tuesday.

The game featured the return of both Tomas Holmstrom and Kirk Maltby to the lineup. Holmstrom, who assisted on Pavel Datsyuk's goal against the Avalanche, had missed the last eight games due to a knee injury. Maltby, meanwhile, had sat out 19 games because of a back ailment.

Dominik Hasek made 19 saves to post second straight shutout, third of the season and 79th of his career. Hasek is 14-6-2 with a 2.11 goals-against average this year, but Chris Osgood has been even better and should be in net tonight, assuming Detroit continues its goaltending rotation system.

Osgood is 19-2-1 on the year and leads the NHL with a 1.68 GAA and .932 save percentage. Should he get the start, it will mark his first game in net since signing a three-year contract extension on Wednesday that runs through 2010-11.

Tuesday's game also saw Chris Chelios become the second-oldest player to every play in an NHL game. Chelios was 45 years and 348 days old when he skated against Colorado, surpassing Moe Roberts on the list.

Only Gordie Howe (52 years, 6 days) has trumped Chelios' feat. In fact, Chelios is more than a year older than his 44-year-old head coach, Mike Babcock.

Detroit plays the second of back-to-back home games tonight and are a league- best 18-3-1 at Joe Louis Arena this year.

Minnesota has lost three of its last four games, including the first two tests of its current four-game road trip. After losing to Nashville on Saturday, the Wild were defeated, 3-1, by Dallas on Monday.

Mark Parrish scored in his career-high fourth straight game and now has 12 goals on the season. Parrish also has five goals and an assist over a six-game point streak.

Niklas Backstrom made 27 saves in a losing effort.

Marian Gaborik leads the Wild with 21 goals, but has just three in eight games since netting five against the Rangers on December 20.

Minnesota is 9-10-2 on the road this year and wraps its trek on Friday against Chicago.

Detroit has won both of its matchups with Minnesota this year and seven of the last eight meetings overall. The Wild have lost their last three trips to Motown.
