Carolina Hurricanes (21-18-4) at St. Louis Blues (19-14-5), 8:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The St. Louis Blues will try to snap their skid on home ice tonight when they welcome the Carolina Hurricanes to the Scottrade Center.

The Blues are 0-2-2 in their last four home games, and lost the opener of a four-game residency on Wednesday. Dustin Penner's power-play goal with 18 seconds left in overtime lifted the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-2 win over the Blues.

With 1:30 to play in the extra session, Matt Walker was whistled for hooking. Hannu Toivonen stopped Jarret Stoll's blast from the point, but Penner, standing outside the crease, kicked the rebound to his stick and slid the puck into the net.

Toivonen made 18 saves in net after replacing Manny Legace, who turned aside three shots before exiting in the first period with a head injury. Legace is questionable for tonight's game, as is Andy McDonald (chest) and Steve Wagner (bruised arm).

David Perron and David Backes scored against Edmonton for the Blues, who have lost nine of their last 12 games overall.

St. Louis fell to 11-7-3 at home this season and will also host Columbus and Dallas on its current stand.

The Hurricanes picked up a big win in a Southeast Division showdown with Atlanta on Friday, defeating the Thrashers 4-3. Cory Stillman's power-play goal with 3:23 left proved to be the difference in the conclusion of a home- and-home series at Philips Arena.

The game winner was made possible after Stillman set himself up just off the left side of the crease. He then one-timed a feed from Ray Whitney into the top of the cage with Carolina skating on the man advantage.

The victory upped first-place Carolina's edge in the division to five points over Atlanta and Florida.

Eric Staal had a goal and two assists and has lit the lamp seven times in his past 10 games. Ray Whitney added a goal and an assist for Carolina, which halted a three-game skid. Casey Borer scored his first NHL goal in his just his second game and also added an assist, while Michael Leighton made 23 saves.

Leighton was playing in place of John Grahame, who was sent to Albany of the AHL on Friday. Starter Cam Ward could be back in net tonight for Carolina, though.

The Hurricanes are 11-10-2 on the road and play the middle portion of a three- game swing tonight. Carolina rounds out the trip on Tuesday in Boston.

Carolina has won two straight against the Blues after going winless in six meetings with them. The Hurricanes will play in St. Louis for the first time since October 15, 2002, and the franchise is 1-9 with a tie in its last 11 games there.
