New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Ryan Longwell made all three of his field goal attempts, including the game-winning 30-yard boot with 13 seconds left as the Minnesota Vikings came away with a 30-27 decision against the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome.

Gus Frerotte played mistake-free football, completing 19-of-36 for 222 yards and a touchdown for Minnesota (2-3), which was coming off a debilitating 30-17 loss in Tennessee last week. Adrian Peterson found it tough running against a porous Saints defense, carrying the ball 21 times for a mere 32 yards.

Bernard Berrian hauled in six balls for 110 yards and a touchdown, while inducing a critical pass interference penalty to set up the game-winning kick.

Antoine Winfield keyed the defensive effort with a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown, to go along with a sack and a forced fumble and recovery.

Reggie Bush became the 12th player in NFL history to return two punts for touchdowns, in addition to 64 yards receiving on seven receptions for New Orleans (2-3), which has dropped three of four to fall into last place in the NFC South.

Drew Brees connected on 26-of-46 for 330 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, while Devery Henderson caught four balls for a team-high 104 yards and a score for the Saints, who were done in by four turnovers and two missed field goals by Martin Gramatica.

"There were some positives, but they get overshadowed by the mistakes we made," Saints head coach Sean Payton said. "We turned the ball over too much, had too many penalties again, and regardless of how we defend the running back, or our yardage on offense or two great punt returns by Reggie Bush, all that gets overshadowed by those mistakes we made."

After Minnesota tied the game midway through the fourth quarter, the Saints drove down the field thanks to a 41-yard reception by Billy Miller. The 10- play drive brought the clock down to the two-minute warning, but Gramatica pushed his 46-yard attempt wide left to keep the game knotted at 27.

The Vikings were not content to sit on the ball on 3rd-and-3 of the ensuing possession, as Frerotte launched a deep pass down the middle of the field to Berrian. Kevin Kaesviharn was called for pass interference at the Saints 14- yard line, and Longwell knocked in a 30-yard kick three plays later to seal the victory.

"We just stuck together as a team," Frerotte said. "Sometimes we couldn't get the running game going. We were stuffed a little bit there and we had to get the passing game going."

New Orleans got off on the right foot behind Pierre Thomas' 56-yard return on the opening kickoff, and Brees took advantage by hooking up with Henderson from 17 yards out for a quick 7-0 lead.

A 52-yard connection between the same combo put the Saints in field-goal position later in the quarter, but Minnesota's Kevin Williams blocked Gramatica's 46-yard attempt directly into the hands of Winfield, who caught the loose ball in stride and sprinted 59 yards for a touchdown.

The Saints again moved down the field with relative ease on its next try, but a penalty and a dropped pass resulted in a 35-yard Gramatica field foal.

Minnesota recovered a surprise onsides kick and managed to tie the game despite barely moving the ball, as Longwell snuck a 53-yard attempt over the crossbar to tie the game 10-10 in an eventful opening 15 minutes.

Winfield again came up with a big play for Minnesota, as he blind-sided Brees on a corner blitz and forced the quarterback to fumble. The cornerback returned the turnover to the Saints 5, and, following a defensive penalty on third down, Chester Taylor hit Visanthe Shiancoe in the back of the end zone on a halfback pass from four yards out at the 13:19 mark of the second.

New Orleans turned the ball over in Minnesota territory on its next two possessions, as Bush lost a fumble and Brees threw a pick at Minnesota's 12.

The Vikings turned the latter into three points with four ticks left in the half on Longwell's 33-yard kick, as Minnesota led 20-10 at the half despite being outgained 251-120.

"In the first half, we had three turnovers, about eight penalties, and you can't win games like that," Bush said. "That really hurt us. We blatantly handed them 17 points I think. It's tough to win games like that."

Bush overcame a shaky first half to change the game's momentum late in the third quarter. The former USC star corralled a punt on the left hash mark of his own 29, and weaved his way to the right sideline behind perfect blocks from his teammates to make it a 20-17 game in favor of the visitors.

The versatile back again ignited the home crowd with a 29-yard return to the Vikings 49, paving the way for a Gramatica 53-yard boot with 13:20 remaining.

After another fruitless drive, Minnesota decided to punt to Bush yet again, only to have the third-year player break one tackle and motor into the end zone for a 64-yard return and a 27-20 lead.

"Both of those kicks were supposed to be out of bounds," said venting Vikings head coach Brad Childress of the latter two punts. "When you say to someone kick the ball out of bounds, that's what you expected to happen. That's what I expect to happen from a professional football kicker...I'm disappointed that we weren't able to get that done."

Minnesota withstood the blows, however, as Frerotte hit Berrian for a 36-yard gain to get into enemy territory. The quarterback took a big hit on the play, but returned after taking a play off to find Berrian for a 33-yard touchdown to tie the game with 7:10 left in the game.
