NFL Preseason Preview - Houston (1-0) at New Orleans (1-0)

By Tony Moss, NFL Editor

(Sports Network) - A pair of teams looking to keep their August momentum rolling will meet at the Louisiana Superdome on Saturday night, when the New Orleans Saints host the Houston Texans in the second preseason tune-up for each team.

The homestanding Saints were 24-10 winners over the Arizona Cardinals last Thursday, outscoring the Cardinals 17-0 in the second half to secure the victory.

Starting quarterback Drew Brees was sharp during his brief time on the field, completing 6-of-7 passes for 40 yards, including a seven-yard touchdown pass to wideout David Patten in the first quarter.

Brees' expected backup in 2008, former Jaguar and Redskins starter Mark Brunell, was a crisp 10-of-12 for 119 yards in his first action as a Saint.

But the star of the contest for the Saints just might have been wideout Robert Meachem. Meachem, a 2007 first-round draft choice who was inactive for all 16 games a year ago, caught four passes for a game-high 129 yards in a bid for a more active role this season.

On the injury front for New Orleans, running back Deuce McAllister (knees) and tight end Jeremy Shockey (leg) did not play against the Cardinals, and neither is likely to see action on Saturday.

The Texans, meanwhile, will make the trip to the Crescent City fresh off a 19-16 triumph over the Denver Broncos.

Kicker Kris Brown hit on field goals of 23, 52, 23, and 25 yards to lift Houston to the win, while backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to David Anderson in the second quarter for the Texans' lone trip to the end zone.

Rosenfels was 10-of-15 passing for 137 yards with the scoring strike, and played extensively in relief of starter Matt Schaub (4-of-5, 29 yards), who saw limited time in the contest.

Schaub and the rest of the Houston starters should play more minutes on Saturday.

Running back Chris Brown (back), who is vying for starting duties in his first year with the Texans but did not play against the Broncos, is expected to see a bulk of the carries with the first-team against New Orleans.

Running back Ahman Green (groin) and wide receiver Andre Johnson (groin) are among the Texans notables not slated to see action on Saturday.

The Texans won their only preseason meeting with the Saints all-time, taking a 13-10 decision at the Superdome prior to the 2002 campaign.

Houston was also a 23-10 home winner when the teams met in regular season play last Nov. 18th.
