NCAA Game Summary - Temple at Army

Final Score: Temple 35 - Army 7

West Point, NY (Sports Network) - Adam DiMichele tossed a pair of touchdowns, and Temple's special teams unit and defense each accounted for a score in the Owls' 35-7 trouncing of the Army Black Knights in each school's season opener.

DiMichele connected on 15-of-22 passes for 159 yards and an interception, while Bruce Francis hauled in a game-high five balls for 45 yards and a TD. Marquise Liverpool rushed for 54 yards and a score, as Temple (1-0), coming off a 4-8 campaign a year ago but bringing back all 11 starters on both sides of the ball, won their first season opener since 2002.

Collin Mooney led the Army (0-1) offensive attack with 81 yards rushing, and Tony Dace rumbled for 40 more and the Black Knights' lone touchdown. Carson Williams didn't look particularly comfortable running the new-look, option offense, completing just 6-of-14 passes for 74 yards with an interception and a fumble, as the Cadets remain winless in season openers since 1996.

The first break of the game went the visitors' way as the Owls recovered a muffed punt at the Knights' eight yard line midway through the first quarter. Three plays later, DiMichele pump faked and found Francis in the corner of the end zone for a 7-0 lead.

Later in the opening period, DiMichele capped a 10-play, 71-yard drive by hitting Steve Maneri on a seven-yard out to pay dirt.

On the first play of the second quarter, Williams coughed up the ball on a botched handoff, and Temple's Morkeith Brown scooped it up and rumbled in for a 17-yard score, as Army suddenly trailed 21-0.

Things didn't get much better for the Knights after halftime as the Owls' Jamal Schulters found a seam and ran back the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.

Dace punched in Army's only touchdown from a yard out midway through the third quarter, but Liverpool answered with a one-yard plunge of his own early in the fourth to push the lead back to 28 points, where it stood the rest of the way.
