Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Pat White threw a pair of touchdowns and also rushed for 150 yards as No. 11 West Virginia stunned third-ranked Oklahoma, 48-28, in the Fiesta Bowl.

White finished 10-of-19 passing for 176 yards for West Virginia (11-2), which rebounded from a shocking 13-9 setback to Pittsburgh in its regular-season finale on December 1. The Mountaineers lost a shot at the national title with that outcome, then saw head coach Rich Rodriguez move on to coach the Michigan Wolverines.

Noel Devine rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns, and also had a pair of catches for 47 yards for West Virginia, which lost tailback Steve Slaton to a leg injury in the first quarter. Darius Reynaud also ran for a 30-yard TD and caught a 21-yard touchdown pass in the victory.

Sam Bradford completed 21-of-33 passes for 242 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception for the Sooners (11-3), who have dropped four straight BCS games and failed to erase the painful memories of last January's loss to Boise State on the same field.

Quentin Chaney had four catches for 129 yards and one TD, while Juaqu Iglesias hauled in eight balls for 53 yards and a score. Patrick Allen was limited to just 82 yards on 14 carries in defeat.

"West Virginia played an excellent football game, really beat us on the offensive and defensive side of the ball and, you know, in every part of the game," said Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops. "They just definitely outcoached us and outplayed us, more physical, more disciplined in all parts of the game. They are to be credited and we're not."

The Mountaineers became the first of six teams to win under an interim coach in this bowl season, as Bill Stewart took the reins for this contest. They also improved to 2-0 in the Bowl Championship Series.

Trailing 34-15 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Sooners looked to make things interesting. Bradford hooked up with Chaney for a 19-yard touchdown strike at the start, but Chris Brown was stuffed on the two-point conversion and Oklahoma still trailed 34-21.

The Mountaineers responded when Tito Gonzales got behind the Oklahoma secondary, hauled in a short pass from White and raced 79 yards for the score and a 41-21 West Virginia lead.

Using a no-huddle offense, OU got back on the board when a wide-open Iglesias hauled in a 15-yard pass in the end zone with 10:20 left. West Virginia though, beat the Sooners' rushing attack and made it 48-28 on Devine's 65-yard gallop just 59 seconds later.

The Mountaineers closed things out with a stifling defense, and as the clock ticked inside of one minute to play, they doused Stewart in Gatorade on the sideline.

"I have never had a Gatorade bath," said Stewart. "For all those assistant coaches out there that are better than me, that was for you."

Both teams had a dispiriting start to the contest, with Oklahoma having to punt from its own 22. West Virginia then quickly crossed midfield but had its drive stalled before Pat McAfee pulled a 50-yard field goal attempt wide right.

The junior kicker redeemed himself on the Mountaineers' next drive, splitting the uprights from 38 yards out to make it 3-0 at 5:40. Then, after Quinton Andrews intercepted Bradford a short time later, West Virginia used an 11-play march capped by a 42-yard effort from McAfee with just two seconds left in the stanza.

That set the stage for a huge second quarter, and by the time the Mountaineers hit the break, they had rolled up 254 yards of total offense.

Oklahoma finally got on the board on Garrett Hartley's 37-yard field goal at 7:46, but West Virginia answered with a 57-yard touchdown run by Owen Schmitt to make it 13-3. Schmitt shook off a tackle by safety Darien Williams, found some room on the outside and sprinted all the way down the right sideline.

The Sooners got a 24-yard field goal from Hartley to cut it to 13-6 at 4:50, but the Mountaineers went back to work and, following the ensuing kickoff, needed just seven plays to get back in the end zone when White connected with Reynaud for a 21-yard touchdown pass over the middle with 2:37 left.

McAfee had a 44-yard field goal attempt blocked with just two seconds left, and it was 20-6 at halftime.

Oklahoma got a 42-yard field goal from Hartley early in the third quarter, and following a West Virginia punt, found the end zone on Brown's one-yard plunge over the goal line at 6:23. The two-point conversion failed, though, and the Sooners still trailed 20-15.

A pair of Mountaineers' TDs then helped them to pull away. The first came on Devine's 17-yard touchdown run to the left side at 3:34, before Reynaud went the distance from 30 yards out with just 20 seconds remaining to put West Virginia on top 34-15 heading to the fourth.
