NCAA Game Summary - Tulsa at Army

Final Score: Tulsa 49 - Army 39

West Point, NY (Sports Network) - Paul Smith threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a 49-39 victory over the Army Black Knights in a non-conference affair at Michie Stadium.

Smith completed 22-of-32 pass attempts for 390 yards for Tulsa (8-3), which won its fourth game in a row. Tarrion Adams ran for 118 yards and a score on just 17 carries, in addition to a touchdown throw. Trae Johnson grabbed nine balls for 119 yards and a touchdown, while Brennan Marion had a score to go with 110 receiving yards for the Golden Hurricane.

Carson Williams threw for 328 yards and three touchdowns to lead Army (3-8). Jeremy Trimble was primary target, as finished with 11 catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns.

Williams completed a 37-yard strike to Justin Larson to cap a two-play, 94-yard opening drive and Army jumped out to a 7-0 lead.

Tulsa responded immediately with a five-play, 91-yard drive of its own, culminating with a three-yard touchdown run by Adams.

Army found the end zone again midway through the period, as Williams hooked up with Trimble for a 35-yard score.

Tulsa tied the contest at 14 apiece late in the frame on an 18-yard toss from Adams to Cameron Clemons.

Owen Tolson put Army ahead, 17-14, early in the second quarter with a 33-yard field goal.

The Black Knights extended their lead, 24-14, midway through the period with a 24-yard run by Corey Anderson.

The Golden Hurricane responded minutes later on a 14-yard run by A.J. Whitmore.

In the closing seconds of the frame, Smith hit Marion on a 50-yard bomb to put Tulsa ahead, 28-24, at the break.

Army reclaimed the lead early in the third quarter, as Williams and Trimble hooked up once again for a nine-yard score.

A seven-yard run by Adams late in the period gave Tulsa a 35-31 lead.

The Golden Hurricane extended its advantage early in the fourth quarter on a 15-yard pass from Smith to Johnson, and Tulsa led, 42-31.

A nine-yard run by Tony Dace midway through the fourth quarter pulled the Black Knights to within three at 42-39.

Tulsa took a 49-39 lead late in the period on a one-yard plunge by Smith, putting the game away for the Golden Hurricane.
