Little Rock, AR (Sports Network) - Casey Dick threw for 199 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Arkansas Razorbacks to a 45-31 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a SEC matchup at War Memorial Stadium.
Dick completed an efficient 14-of-17 in the Arkansas (7-4, 3-4 SEC) victory, hitting Robert Johnson three times for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Darren McFadden ran for 88 yards, grabbed four passes for 50 yards and scored for the Razorbacks, in addition to also throwing a 24-yard touchdown pass.
Wesley Carroll threw for 421 yards and four touchdowns but also threw four costly interceptions in the MSU (6-5, 3-4) loss. Jamayel Smith caught 10 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns.
A four-yard toss from Carroll to Smith gave Mississippi State a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter, Alex Tejada drilled a 39-yard field goal to put Arkansas on the board.
The Razorbacks took a 10-7 lead midway through the period as Dick connected with a 30-yard strike to Farod Johnson.
Arkansas extended its lead late in the frame, as Dick found Johnson for a 35- yard score.
Dick found Marcus Monk for a 19-yard score late in the frame to extend the Razorback advantage, 24-7.
The Bulldogs responded with a 25-yard field goal early in the third quarter.
Dick's fourth touchdown pass of the day came midway through the period in the form of a 57-yard pass to Darren McFadden to give Arkansas a 31-10 lead.
Mississippi State found the end zone for the second time late in the frame on a 35-yard strike from Carroll to Tony Burks.
McFadden completed a 24-yard strike to Johnson early in the fourth quarter that gave the Razorbacks a 38-17 advantage.
The Bulldogs responded midway through the period with an 80-yard play from Carroll to Smith.
The Razorbacks responded minutes later with a big play of their own, as Antwain Robinson intercepted Carroll and returned the turnover for a 30-yard score to give Arkansas a 45-24 lead.
Carroll put the Bulldogs into the end zone a final time late in the frame with a 19-yard strike to Jason Husband that accounted for the game's final score.
