NCAA Game Summary - Texas A&M at Missouri

Final Score: Texas A&M 26 - Missouri 40

Columbia, MO (Sports Network) - Chase Daniel threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Jeremy Maclin, while Tony Temple ran for 141 yards and a score as seventh-ranked Missouri held off Texas A&M, 40-26.

Temple set the tone early with a 44-yard touchdown run in the first quarter while Maclin had an 82-yard TD in the second half and finished with five receptions for 146 yards for the Tigers (9-1, 5-1 Big 12), who reached the nine-win mark during the regular season for the just the fourth time in school history and the first time since 1969.

Missouri, which finished a perfect 6-0 at home, completes its season with two games on the road, including a huge matchup with undefeated Kansas on November 24.

Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee completed 18-of-28 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns to Martellus Bennett. Jorvorski Lane added 50 yards on the ground for the struggling Aggies (6-5, 3-4), who rallied in the second half but still lost their third in a row.

Trailing by 15 at halftime, Texas A&M responded on its first possession of the second half. Mike Goodson ignited the drive, running for 13 yards before catching a deflected pass from McGee for a 43-yard gain to the Missouri 19- yard line. Goodson followed that with three consecutive runs to the two-yard line before Lane scored on 3rd-and-goal to bring the Aggies within 24-16.

Alton Dixon then sacked Daniel on Missouri's next possession and recovered the loose ball to give Texas A&M possession on its own 43-yard line. The Aggies drove deep into Missouri territory and had a 1st-and-goal on the three-yard line, but the Tigers forced Texas A&M backward and Matt Szymanski's 22-yard field goal made it 24-19 with 3:39 left in the third quarter.

The Aggies forced the potent Missouri offense to punt on its following possession and Texas A&M once again drove into Tigers' territory, but Szymanski pushed his 36-yard field goal attempt wide right early in the fourth quarter.

Missouri responded with an eight-play, 80-yard scoring march that ended when Jimmy Jackson ran into the end zone from six yards out with exactly nine minutes left in the game. On the drive, Dixon was called for a personal foul and ejected from the game.

Texas A&M didn't go down quietly, as McGee hooked up with Bennett again for his second score of the game -- an impressive 42-yard TD that brought the Aggies within 31-26 with just under eight minutes to go.

However, the Tigers sealed the win with an 11-play, 80-yard drive that culminated with Maclin's second touchdown of the game that made it 38-26 with 3:41 remaining.

Missouri put an exclamation mark on the game when Loren Williams sacked McGee in the end zone for a safety.

Missouri was all over Texas A&M from the start, thanks to Temple's 44-yard touchdown run on its opening possession of the game. Back-to-back catches by Tommy Saunders and Maclin quickly brought the Tigers to midfield and Temple took care of the rest, racing up the left sidelines for the score.

A bad snap on a Missouri punt attempt got Texas A&M on the board with a safety, but the Tigers responded with a 17 play, 87-yard scoring drive that bridged the first and second quarters.

On 3rd-and-goal from the Texas A&M five-yard line, Daniel pump faked before finding Chase Coffman in the back of the end zone for a touchdown that made it 14-2 early in the second quarter. The score was Coffman's fourth in the last two weeks.

The Aggies responded on their ensuing possession, thanks in large part to Kerry Franks' 60-yard catch-and-run that set Texas A&M up with a 1st- and-goal on the Missouri eight-yard line. The Tigers answered with two consecutive stops, but McGee found Bennett in the end zone on third down to bring the Aggies with 14-9 with just under 10 minutes to play in the half.

Jeff Wolfert's 32-yard field goal made it 17-9 with 3:31 remaining in the second half and it looked as if Texas A&M would remain within one possession heading into halftime.

However, McGee threw an ill-advised pass into double coverage and William Moore made the interception at the Missouri 17-yard line. Then, just two plays later, Daniel found a wide open Maclin, who raced down the right sidelines for an 82-yard touchdown that made it 24-9 going into the break.
