NCAA Game Summary - Vanderbilt at Florida

Final Score: Vanderbilt 22 - Florida 49

Gainesville, FL (Sports Network) - Tim Tebow threw three touchdown passes and ran for two scores, leading 18th-ranked Florida to a 49-22 victory over Vanderbilt on Homecoming at the Swamp.

Tebow completed 22-of-27 passes for 281 yards and finished with 35 yards on the ground for the Gators (6-3, 4-3 SEC), who bounced back from last week's 42-30 loss against Georgia to beat Vanderbilt for the 17th straight time.

"We needed to have a good day," said Tebow. "We came in with a chip on our shoulder, upset about last week, and our goal was to score every time we touched the ball. We were pretty close to that today."

Percy Harvin had a big day. He ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, while also catching nine passes for 110 yards to become the first Florida player with at least 100 yards rushing and receiving in the same game.

"Our offensive line made great holes and anyone could have run through them," said Harvin. "I just tried to hit the hole at the time and take over. All the credit goes to the offensive line."

Florida racked up 498 total yards, including 210 on the ground, while holding Vanderbilt to 255 total yards.

Mackenzi Adams threw for 159 yards with a pair of interceptions and ran for two scores for the Commodores (5-4, 2-4), who had a two-game winning streak stopped. Vandy hasn't beaten Florida since 1988 and hasn't won in Gainesville since the very first meeting in 1945.

"They just took it to us today, they whipped us," said Vanderbilt head coach Bobby Johnson. "They took it to us in the first half. We couldn't match-up on a lot of things that they were doing offensively and had a tough time stopping them. We gave up a big play to start their scoring and it just went downhill from there."

Florida scored on its opening series and never looked back.

Tebow directed an 82-yard drive on the Gators' first possession, keying the march with a 40-yard pass to Louis Murphy before taking it into the end zone himself on a one-yard run.

Vandy followed with a punt and a 53-yard return by Brandon James set up a first down for Florida at the Vanderbilt 39. Tebow needed just two plays to put his team in the end zone again, as Harvin hauled in a 21-yard pass on the first play before scoring on an 18-yard run to make it 14-0.

The next Gator series included passes of 15 yards to Andre Caldwell and 18 yards to Harvin on consecutive plays before Harvin broke free for a 38-yard run to set up a first down at the Vanderbilt 11. However, a bad snap led to a 26-yard loss and Joey Ijjas eventually missed a 38-yard field goal on the first play of the second quarter.

Florida dominated the first quarter, outgaining Vanderbilt 182-37.

The Commodores, however, followed the missed field goal with a 79-yard drive for a touchdown. After a pair of third-down conversions, a 35-yard pass from Adams to Jake Bradford set up a one-yard scoring run by the quarterback to pull Vandy within seven.

Florida, though, responded with 21 points to end the half.

A 32-yard run by Kestahn Moore fueled a 76-yard drive that ended with an 11- yard scoring toss from Tebow to Jarred Fayson less than 90 seconds after Vandy's touchdown.

Adams was then picked off by Jermaine Cunningham, giving the Gators possession at the Vandy 16. Tebow threw for 12 yards to Harvin before finding Caldwell in the end zone from four yards away for a 28-7 advantage.

The Gators got the ball back with 3:23 to play in the half and quickly drove 84 yards in 12 plays for another score. Tebow completed 7-of-9 passes for 79 yards during the quick strike, finishing it with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Caldwell with just 37 seconds to play before the intermission.

Vanderbilt recovered an onside kick to start the second half and drove to the Florida 14 before settling on a 33-yard field goal by Bryant Hahnfeldt.

Tebow was then picked off on Florida's first possession of the second half, but the Commodores couldn't take advantage with the ball near midfield and a fourth-down pass fell incomplete.

Vanderbilt was about to get the ball back after a Florida punt, but Alex Washington fumbled and the Gators took over at the Vandy 12. Tebow ran for 11 yards before scoring from the one two plays later to give the Gators a 42-10 lead.

Florida appeared to turn Vandy away at the goal line late in the third quarter with an interception of Adams, but a penalty negated the turnover and Adams scored on a one-yard run early in the fourth. The two-point try failed.

Harvin, though, answered with a 13-yard touchdown run on Florida's ensuing series, before Vanderbilt's Darlron Spead returned a fumble 36 yards for a touchdown to account for the final margin.
