NCAA Game Summary - UL-Lafayette at Tennessee

Final Score: UL Lafayette 7 - Tennessee 59

Knoxville, TN (Sports Network) - Arian Foster and Lennon Creer both topped 100 yards rushing, and the 24th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers pounded Louisiana- Lafayette, 59-7.

Foster rushed 20 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns for the Volunteers (6-3), who have won two straight after their embarrassing 41-17 loss to Alabama on Oct. 20. Creer gained 109 yards on seven carries with one score. Erik Ainge completed 16-of-23 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown for Tennessee, which had an interception return for a score, and a punt blocked and returned for a score.

"We blocked kicks, we scored on defense, we scored on offense," said Volunteers head coach Phil Fulmer. "We kept the other team off the field pretty well. It was a complete game, but we've got a lot bigger fish to fry."

Tyrell Fenroy gained 113 yards on 14 carries with the lone score for the Ragin' Cajuns (1-8). Michael Desormeaux completed 13-of-25 passes for 95 yards with one interception for ULL.

The Volunteers drove right down the field on the opening possession of the game, but stalled at the ULL seven, and had to settle for a 24-yard field by Daniel Lincoln for the early lead.

The Vols blew the Ragin' Cajuns off the field with a 21-point second quarter. Foster's one-yard scoring plunge capped a 13-play, 67-yard drive that was set up by a missed field goal attempt by ULL from 49 yards out. Foster's score pushed Tennessee on top 10-0 just 30 seconds into the second quarter.

Foster kicked off the next UT drive with a 20-yard gain, and again the Vols grinded it out, with Foster doing most of the heavy lifting, finishing the seven-play, 65-yard drive with a four-yard scoring run.

The Ragin' Cajuns were able to move the ball down the field on their next drive, but on a 1st-and-10, Desormeaux was picked off at the Tennessee 30- yard-line by Antonio Reynolds, who ran it back 70 yards for the score. The big defensive play gave the Vols a 24-0 lead with just under two minutes left in the half.

"At times we really executed and played well and moved the ball," said Desormeaux. "We just weren't consistent enough with the execution."

Fenroy broke through for ULL, with his 21-yard scoring run finally putting the Cajuns on the board with 13:07 remaining in the third quarter. Tennessee answered, though, with a 13-play, 65-yard drive that Ainge capped with a five- yard scoring pass to Quintin Hancock, and the Vols led 31-7 with 7:59 left in the third.

Antonio Wardlow blocked a ULL punt just over a minute later, and ran it into the end zone from 20 yards out, pushing UT ahead 38-7.

Creer's 30-yard scoring run with 2:28 left boosted the Vols to a 45-7 advantage.

Two fourth-quarter scores, a 49-yard pass from Jonathan Crompton to Kenny O'Neal, and a 12-yard run by Gerald Jones, capped the rout for the Vols.
