NCAA Game Summary - Ball State at Indiana

Final Score: Ball State 20 - Indiana 38

Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) - Kellen Lewis threw for 354 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Indiana Hoosiers to a 38-20 victory over the Ball State Cardinals in a non-conference matchup at Memorial Stadium.

Lewis completed 22-of-35 and added 52 yards on the ground in the Indiana (6-4) victory, while Ray Fisher grabbed six balls for 134 yards and two scores. James Hardy also scored twice for the Hoosiers, catching eight passes for 116 yards.

Nate Davis completed 26-of-48, throwing for 332 yards and a touchdown to lead Ball State (5-5). Dante Love was his primary target, catching 14 passes for 177 yards in the Cardinal loss.

A 19-yard field goal by Ian McGarvey early in the first quarter gave the Cardinals a 3-0 lead.

Indiana responded with a field goal of its own midway through the opening quarter, a 30-yarder by Austin Starr to tie the contest at three.

Chris Clancy gave the Cardinals a 10-3 lead late in the frame with a four-yard touchdown run.

Lewis hooked up with Fisher for a 60-yard score early in the second quarter, again tying the game.

Indiana took a 17-10 lead midway through the period on a 58-yard interception return by Chris Phillips.

Lewis found Hardy for a 20-yard scoring strike late in the frame, as the Hoosiers ended the first half with a 24-10 advantage.

Ball State found the end zone early in the third quarter, as Davis tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Ifft.

But Lewis and Hardy hooked up once again midway through the frame for a four- yard score, increasing the Hoosiers' advantage to 31-17.

Lewis completed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Fisher early in the fourth quarter to put Indiana comfortably ahead, 38-17.

The Cardinals could only muster a 27-yard McGarvey field goal the rest of the way.

The teams were evenly matched in terms of total offense, but the Cardinals were never really able to get their run game going, finishing with just 67 yards and an average of 2.1 ypc.
