NCAA Game Summary - Northern Illinois at Wisconsin

Final Score: Northern Ill 3 - Wisconsin 44

Madison, WI (Sports Network) - PJ Hill ran for 184 yards and two touchdowns, as the Wisconsin Badgers steam rolled the Northern Illinois Huskies, 44-3, in a non-conference bout at Camp Randall Stadium.

With the Wisconsin (6-2) ground game churning out 331 yards and four touchdowns on the day, quarterback Tyler Donovan's workload was scaled back, as he finished with 91 yards on 11-of-19 passing.

The Badgers defense put the clamps on the Northern Illinois (1-7) offense, limiting Huskies quarterback Dan Nicholson to 44 yards passing, and running back Justin Anderson to 14 yards on 13 carries.

Wisconsin marched 65 yards in nine plays on the game's opening drive, with Donovan and Garrett Graham hooking up for a 25-yard scoring strike.

On the first play of the Badgers' very next possession, Hill broke off a 72- yard touchdown run to stake Wisconsin an early 14-0 lead.

Wisconsin went up 21-0 on the first play of the second quarter, courtesy of a 10-yard touchdown scamper by Chris Pressley.

Lance Smith's nine-yard touchdown run at the 10:30 mark of the second quarter, and a 32-yard Taylor Mehlhaff field goal near the end of the first half made it 31-0 at intermission.

The third quarter saw Hill score on a one-yard plunge and Mehlhaff kick a 21- yarder, while Northern Illinois avoided the shutout with a 34-yard field goal by Chris Nendick in the final minute of the quarter.

Mehlhaff's 34-yard field goal accounted for the only points of the fourth quarter.

Northern Illinois finished with a putrid 99 yards of total offense, as the Badgers held the ball for nearly twice as long (39:37-20:23) as the Huskies.
