Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Tim Tebow completed 18-of-26 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns, and ran for 78 yards on 20 carries and another score as No. 14 Florida outlasted eighth-ranked Kentucky, 45-37, in thrilling SEC action.

Andre Caldwell had six catches for 73 yards and a score, and Louis Murphy added 91 yards on four catches, highlighted by a 66-yard touchdown catch for the Gators (5-2, 3-2 SEC), who had suffered two straight losses, to Auburn and LSU, by a combined seven points before their bye week. Florida rebounded against Kentucky, though, extending its win streak over the Wildcats to 21 games.

Andre' Woodson completed 35-of-50 passes for 415 yards and five touchdowns for Kentucky (6-2, 2-2), which had rebounded from its loss to South Carolina by topping then-top-ranked LSU 43-37 in triple-overtime last Saturday. Dicky Lyons Jr. had eight catches for 124 yards and three scores, and Steve Johnson had eight grabs for 128 yards for the Wildcats.

Getting the ball at its own 43-yard-line with 6:34 left, Kentucky mounted a final charge. The Wildcats moved down to the Florida 11-yard-line, but a four- yard rush by Derrick Locke and two incomplete passes left the Wildcats facing a 4th-and-6 from the Florida 7. Woodson hit Lyons on a quick hitch, though, for the third scoring connection between the two, and Kentucky again pulled to within one score, with 3:35 left.

The Wildcat defense simply could not stop Tebow and the Gators offense, though. On a 2nd-and-7 at the Kentucky 42-yard-line, Tebow faked the run up the middle, stepped back, and threw to Percy Harvin just shy of the end zone. The 40-yard connection set up Tebow's two-yard scoring plunge, salting the game away with 1:33 left.

"He's as competitive a human being as I've ever been around," said Florida head coach Urban Meyer. "He's a great leader. He gives you a weapon on offense."

The Wildcats did drive down the field and add a meaningless score, a six-yard pass from Woods to Keenan Burton as time expired to provide the final margin.

"Their scheme is difficult," said Kentucky head coach Rich Brooks. "They have great athletes, big linemen, playmakers, and a guy who has the skill and size of Tebow it becomes difficult. We'd do a good job and then, bam we'd mess one up. They kept the ball and their drives alive."

Woodson and the Wildcats jumped on top on their first possession, moving 78 yards on nine plays, capped by a 33-yard touchdown pass to Lyons with 10:31 left.

The Gators answered immediately, embarking on a 12-play, 80-yard drive that Tebow powered on the ground and through the air. He started the drive with a 15-yard rush, and finished it with an eight-yard scoring toss to Cornelius Ingram, tying the game with 4:41 left in the first quarter.

Lones Seiber missed a 48-yard field goal attempt wide left on the following UK possession, and the Gators wasted little time finding the end zone again. Two plays later Tebow faked a rush up the middle took a step back and hit Murphy, streaking wide open down the middle of the field, a 66-yard connection that put Florida ahead 14-7 with 11 seconds left in the first quarter.

Seiber banged a field goal in from 27 yards out with 2:38 left in the second quarter, but Brandon James returned the ensuing kickoff 61 yards to the UK 38. It took Florida 10 plays to finally punch it in, on one of Tebow's patented jump-passes, a one-yard toss to Aason Hernandez that gave the Gators a 21-10 lead with 14 seconds left in the half.

Kentucky went three-and-out to start the second half, and Tim Masthay shanked the punt, giving the Gators the ball at the UK 46-yard-line. Seven plays later Tebow stepped back, shook off one Kentucky defender, and completed an eight- yard scoring pass to Caldwell to put Florida ahead 28-10 with 11:38 left in the third quarter.

The Wildcats were not done, though, as Woodson led Kentucky on an eight-play, 78-yard drive, finding Jacob Tamme on a 28-yard scoring pass that cut the deficit to 28-17 with 8:09 left.

Kentucky went for the surprise onside kick and recovered the ball, but, unfortunately for the Wildcats, did so just short of the 10 yards required. Florida took over at the UK 39, but the Wildcats defense stiffened at their own 4, holding the Gators to a 21-yard Joey Ijjas field goal, boosting the Florida lead to 31-17 with 5:48 left in the third quarter.

A wide-receiver screen worked out perfectly for Kentucky on its next drive. Woodson, in the face of a Florida blitz, hit Lyons on a short inside screen, and Lyons broke one tackle on the way to a 49-yard scoring reception, pulling the Wildcats within 31-24 with 3:05 left in the third quarter.

Tebow and the Gators made sure it wasn't a one-score game for long, though, grinding out another 12-play, 80-yard drive that bridged the final two quarters. Harvin finished it off with a 24-yard scoring run, putting Florida back up by 14 with 11:57 left in regulation.
