NCAA Game Summary - Western Kentucky at Ball State

Muncie, IN (Sports Network) - Nate Davis passed for 288 yards and three touchdowns to guide the Ball State Cardinals in a 35-12 victory over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in a non-conference affair at Scheumann Stadium.

Davis completed 21-of-31 pass attempts for Ball State (4-3), and Frank Edmonds ran for 48 yards and two scores on 16 carries. Dante Love grabbed six passes for 91 yards and a touchdown in the winning cause.

K.J. Black completed 20-of-29 pass attempts for 184 yards and a touchdown, but he was intercepted three times for Western Kentucky (3-3). Curtis Hamilton pulled down eight of those passes for 83 yards and a score, while Tyrell Hayden rushed for 91 yards on 24 carries in the losing cause.

Davis completed a 21-yard scoring strike to Louis Johnson late in the first quarter to give Ball State a 7-0 advantage.

In the closing seconds of the frame, Davis added to the Cardinals' lead with a 40-yard completion to Love for a touchdown.

Western Kentucky found the end zone early in the second quarter, as Black found Hamilton for a 12-yard touchdown. The point-after attempt by Chris James failed.

James then added a pair of field goals (46 and 35 yards) in consecutive drives in the closing minutes of the half to pull the Hilltoppers within two points at 14-12.

Ball State added to its advantage late in the third quarter on a one-yard plunge by Edmonds.

With under two minutes to go in the frame, Davis completed a 41-yard touchdown pass to Johnson to give the Cardinals a 28-12 lead.

Ball State added another touchdown in the closing minutes of the game with a one-yard plunge by Edmonds, accounting for the final score, 35-12.
