NCAA Game Summary - NC State at Florida State

Final Score: NC State 10 - Florida State 27

Tallahassee, FL (Sports Network) - Xavier Lee threw for a touchdown and ran for another as the Florida State Seminoles defeated the NC State Wolfpack, 27-10, in an ACC affair at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Lee, making his first start of the season, completed 16-of-28 pass attempts for 257 yards, while also rushing for 14 yards on 12 carries. Greg Carr was his main target with four catches for 140 yards and a score, as FSU (4-1, 1-1 ACC) won its fourth game in a row.

NC State (1-5, 0-3) was paced by Jamelle Eugene, who rushed for 101 yards and also caught five passes for 30 yards. Daniel Evans, however, struggled under center, completing 19-of-32 tosses for 172 yards, with one touchdown against three interceptions.

FSU jumped out quickly in this one, as Lee rumbled two yards for a touchdown just over two minutes into the game.

NC State countered less than three minutes later, however, as Evans completed a two-yard touchdown pass to John Dunlap.

With just over two minutes to play in the opening period Steven Hauschka connected on a 23-yard field goal to give the Wolfpack a 10-7 lead.

Gary Cismesia nailed a 39-yard field goal late in the second quarter for the Seminoles as the two teams went into the half tied at 10-10.

FSU regained the lead early in the third quarter, when Michael Garvin picked off a pass and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown.

Just over a minute into the fourth period, the Seminoles extended their lead to 24-10 on a Lee 40-yard touchdown pass to Carr.

A little over two minutes later, Cismesia nailed a 28-yard field goal and neither team would score again, as FSU posted the 27-10 win.

The Seminoles' defense was outstanding in this one, forcing four turnovers and registering six sacks.

The victory was the 370th in Bobby Bowden's head coaching career, and that is the most in major college football.

The contest was delayed for 49 minutes in the third quarter due to lightning.
