NCAA Game Summary - Ole Miss at Georgia

Final Score: Ole Miss 17 - Georgia 45

Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Thomas Brown ran for a career-high 180 yards and three touchdowns to lead 15th-ranked Georgia to a 45-17 rout of Ole Miss at Sanford Stadium.

Knowshon Moreno added 90 yards and a touchdown on the ground for the Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1 SEC), who rolled up 328 rushing yards and have won three straight since a 16-12 loss to South Carolina. Matthew Stafford completed 13-of-21 passes for 144 yards with a touchdown in the victory.

"The big guys up front opened up some holes for me," said Brown. "I was able to get into secondary, and when I got there I used my God-given ability. When they [offensive line] open up holes for us that allow us to get into the secondary, that's when it is our time to take over."

BenJarvus Green-Ellis ran for 108 yards with a touchdown and Seth Adams threw for 228 yards with a score for Ole Miss (1-4, 0-3), which has dropped four in a row after opening the season with a two-point win at Memphis.

The Rebels took the opening kickoff of the second half and marched 84 yards in 18 plays to tie the score. Ellis' two-yard run made it a 17-17 game with 5:53 remaining in the third quarter.

Georgia, though, answered quickly with the go-ahead score and tacked on three more touchdowns to put it away.

The Bulldogs took less than 2 1/2 minutes to move in front for good. Stafford started it with an 11-yard pass to Brown, who followed with a 16-yard run. A 25-yard connection from Stafford to Tripp Chandler a couple of plays later set up a first down at the Ole Miss 18. It was all Brown from there, as he carried for five yards and nine before reaching the end zone on a four-yard run.

Georgia then went for an onside kick and recovered, but the Bulldogs were unable to take advantage and punted it away. Ole Miss quickly punted it back and the Bulldogs needed just two plays to extend their lead, as Brown broke free for a 41-yard touchdown run just over a minute into the fourth quarter.

Adams was intercepted on the next Ole Miss series and Brandon Miller's pick gave the Bulldogs a first down at the Rebel 22. Moreno gave Brown a break and did all the work on the three-play series, catching a pass for nine yards and running for five before scoring on an eight-yard run to make it 38-17.

The next Ole Miss series ended at the Georgia 19 when Bruce Hall was stopped short on 4th-and-1.

Georgia then sealed it with a long march, thanks to a roughing the punter call that kept it alive, and Fred Munzenmaier scored on a six-yard run in the final minute to account for the final margin.

"That's one of the biggest margins of victory in a game I've coached that was really close," said Georgia head coach Mark Richt. "We got outplayed in the first half."

Ole Miss scored first when Adams connected with Mike Wallace on a 45-yard touchdown pass just 4 1/2 minutes into the game.

Georgia's second series of the game ended at the Ole Miss 26 when Moreno was stopped for a loss on 4th-and-2. The Rebels then drove inside the Georgia five, but Adams lost the ball trying to sneak it into the end zone on 1st-and- goal from the one and C.J. Byrd recovered for the Bulldogs.

"All I saw was the ball on the ground," said Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron. "It was a really big play. If we had scored we would have been up 14-0. I thought the refs would have reviewed it, but they didn't. In hindsight I should have called a timeout to have it reviewed."

Brown then went to work. He gained four yards on first down, followed with a 30-yard jaunt to give the Bulldogs some breathing room and finished a 96-yard drive with a 50-yard touchdown run just over a minute into the second quarter to tie the game.

Georgia got the ball back after a punt and Stafford put his team ahead for the first time with a five-yard touchdown pass to Mohamed Massaquoi with 4 1/2 minutes to play in the half.

The Rebels used a couple of big plays to march into Georgia territory, but the drive bogged down inside the 20 and Joshua Shene drilled a 30-yard field goal to pull Ole Miss within 14-10 with 59 seconds left.

A squib kick and a nine-yard return gave Georgia the ball at its own 44 and the Bulldogs quickly drove inside the Ole Miss 10, but they had to settle for a 20-yard field goal as time expired.
