Moscow, ID (Sports Network) - Colt Brennan overcame a five-interception day to complete 30 of 49 passes for 369 yards and three touchdowns as 19th- ranked Hawaii steamrolled Idaho, 48-20, at the Kibbie Dome.
Brennan rushed for one score and completed touchdown passes of 13, 24 and 41 yards, most often finding Davone Bess, who had 12 catches for 162 yards and a score. Ryan Grice-Mullins hauled in seven passes for 91 yards and a TD, and Malcolm Lane had five receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Kealoha Pilares rushed 10 times for 86 yards as the Warriors (5-0) staked themselves to a 41-10 halftime lead on their way to a sixth straight victory, albeit a sloppy one featuring 10 total turnovers.
Defensive back Myron Newberry caused two of those turnovers, picking off a pair of passes, one of which he returned for a score.
Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle was 15-of-34 passing for 186 yards and one touchdown, but was intercepted four times. Eddie Williams caught five passes for 78 yards, and had a touchdown on the ground and through the air.
"We've got to do a better job of taking care of the football," Idaho head coach Robb Akey said. "We've turned the ball over too many times in the last two weeks and we need to get that taken care of."
The Vandals (1-4) had a streak of 21 straight quarters in which they had scored ended when they were blanked in the third.
Hawaii got on the board first to take a 7-0 lead as Brennan hit Grice- Mullen from 13 yards out less than five minutes into the game.
But Idaho responded when Williams took an end-around at the Hawaii 18- yard line and scampered into the right corner of the end zone to tie the game.
Brennan was intercepted on the ensuing drive, but Idaho gave it right back as Enderle was picked off by Adam Leonard, who took it back 40 yards for a score and a 14-7 Warriors advantage.
Hawaii then embarked on a 10-play, 83-yard drive that spanned just over four minutes and ended with Brennan finding Lane for a 41-yard score.
The Warriors blew the game wide open with three scores in eight minutes, beginning with a 24-yard hookup between Brennan and Bess, then a field goal from 45 yards out by Dan Kelly, and a 75-yard interception return by Newberry for a touchdown.
Idaho salvaged a 50-yard field goal from Tino Amancio with 36 seconds left, but Hawaii's quick strike offense got within range of their own kicker in less than 30 seconds, and Kelly nailed a 25-yarder as time expired to give U of H a 41-10 lead heading into the locker room.
The Vandals defense stiffened early in the second half, stifling a pair of Hawaii drives, but Brennan then led his team on an 11-play, 78-yard march that ended with a one-yard touchdown plunge for a 48-10 bulge.
Idaho mounted a 13-play, 49-yard drive in the fourth quarter that nearly came up empty because of penalties, but Amancio was true from 49 yards out.
After the Warriors second-team offense was stalled, the Vandals made the score more respectable with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Enderle to Williams with just over three minutes to go.
"We had a great game plan, but it's just a matter of executing," Williams said. "If we have 10 guys doing their jobs and one guy who isn't, we aren't going to be successful on the play."
