Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Branden Ore scored a pair of touchdowns and Tyrod Taylor threw for a score as 17th-ranked Virginia Tech hammered William & Mary, 44-3.

Taylor finished 6-of-13 passing for 72 yards for Virginia Tech (3-1), which will host the North Carolina Tar Heels on September 29. Ore had 25 yards rushing on 10 carries with a TD and caught four balls for 48 yards and another score, while Kenny Lewis carried the ball 10 times for 43 yards and a touchdown.

Brandon Flowers also returned an interception 49 yards for a TD and Eddie Royal had a 60-yard punt return for a score, while Jud Dunleavy chipped in with three field goals.

Jake Phillips finished 17-of-40 for 243 yards with three interceptions for William & Mary (2-2), which had a brief two-game win streak halted. Brian Pate accounted for the William & Mary's only points with a 22-yard field goal.

Virginia Tech won the coin toss, elected to defer and after William & Mary went three-and-out on its first offensive set, the Hokies went 47 yards on six plays and finished off the drive when Dunleavy booted a 25-yard field goal to get the home team on the board first.

Dunleavy's 27-yard chip shot midway through the opening quarter made it a 6-0 game.

The Tribe offense continued to sputter, going three-and-out again and the Hokies' offense capitalized. After a bad snap that sailed over punter David Miller's head the Hokies took over on the William & Mary 5. Three plays later Ore ran it in from two yards to put Virginia Tech up 13-0.

Flowers' 49-yard interception of Phillips for a touchdown with just under four minutes remaining in the first quarter made it a 20-0 game.

Following another failed William & Mary offensive series, Tech continued on the offensive attack, this time stringing together a nine-play, 58-yard drive. Lewis finished off the set when he ran over right guard for an eight-yard score.

Virginia Tech pushed the score to 34-0 when Royal returned Miller's punt 60 yards for a TD in the early stages of the second quarter.

The Tribe finally put some points on the board with a little over five minutes left in the half when Pate booted a 22-yard field goal, finalizing a nine- play, 94-yard drive that took only 3:07.

Ore's second TD of the contest, a 34-yard grab from Taylor, gave the Hokies a commanding 41-3 advantage heading into halftime.

Dunleavy added a 38-yard field goal, his third of the afternoon midway through the third quarter.
