NCAA Game Summary - East Carolina at West Virginia

Final Score: East Carolina 7 - West Virginia 48

Morgantown, WV (Sports Network) - Patrick White had two touchdown passes and two rushing touchdowns as fifth-ranked West Virginia dominated East Carolina, 48-7.

White went 18-for-20 with 181 yards and also had nine carries for 42 yards for the Mountaineers (4-0), who have won all 12 games against East Carolina at home. Steve Slaton had 18 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown to lead a ground attack that produced 397 yards and four scores

Chris Johnson had 14 carries for 76 yards and a score while Patrick Pinkney went just 7-for-14 for 43 yards and an interception for the Pirates (1-3), who have dropped their past two games.

After stopping the Pirates on the first possession of the game, Vaughn Rivers returned the punt 25 yards to give the Mountaineers excellent field position. However, the drive stalled at the Pirates 14-yard line and a 31-yard field goal from Pat McAfee gave the Mountaineers a 3-0 lead.

West Virginia made it a 10-0 game on its next possession. Darius Reynaud's 64- yard run gave the team a 1st-and-goal and Slaton punched the ball in from one yard out with 7:12 left in the first.

On the second play of the second quarter, White took the ball into the end zone from 13 yards out to cap a 13-play, 83-yard drive and give the Mountaineers a 17-0 lead.

West Virginia extended its lead on a 10-play, 72-yard drive that was capped off on a 13-yard pass from White to Reynaud for a 24-0 advantage with just 2:34 remaining in the first half.

The Mountaineers weren't finished, though, as after forcing a Pirates three- and- out the team quickly marched down the field and got a 34-yard field goal from McAfee as time expired for a 27-0 advantage.

West Virginia took the first possession of the second half. On 3rd-and-5 near midfield, Slaton took the handoff 41 yards and two plays later White found Reynaud in the end zone from 19 yards out for a 34-0 lead a little over three minutes into the third.

After stopping East Carolina on its next possession, the Mountaineers built on their lead with a 10-play, 87-yard drive with White taking the ball into the end zone on a four-yard run to make it a 41-0 contest with 3:21 left in the third.

Ed Collington's four-yard touchdown run with a little under six minutes to play gave the Mountaineers a 48-0 lead.

East Carolina spoiled the shutout bit with 59 seconds left as Johnson punched the ball into the end zone on a two-yard run.
