Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Todd Reesing completed 16-of-35 pass attempts for 313 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Kansas Jayhawks to a 45-13 win over the Toledo Rockets in a non-conference matchup from Memorial Stadium.
Jake Sharp and Brandon McAnderson led the Jayhawks (3-0) ground attack, as Sharp rushed for 127 yards on 13 carries while McAnderson added 60 yards and two scores 12 carries. Marcus Henry also had a solid game, pulling down seven passes for 133 yards and a score in the victory.
As for the Rockets (0-3), they were paced by DaJuane Collins who carried the ball 14 times for 102 yards and a score. Aaron Opelt, however, didn't fare as well, as he completed 10-of-19 throws for just 38 yards and three interceptions.
Kansas jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter when Scott Webb kicked a 25-yard field goal.
The Jayhawks next score came on the final play of the first quarter, as Reesing hooked up with Aqib Talib for a 58-yard touchdown strike.
Reesing gave the Jayhawks a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter, when he hit Henry for a 42-yard touchdown strike.
Toledo responded with less than two minutes remaining in the first half, as Nick Moore found Opelt for a 21-yard scoring pass.
Kansas countered immediately, when Reesing teamed up with Dezmon Briscoe from 26 yards out to give the Jayhawks a 24-7 lead at the half.
The Jayhawks extended their lead late in the third quarter, when McAnderson ripped off a 26-yard scoring run.
McAnderson added another score minutes later, punching it in from three yards out to make the score 38-7.
Kansas was back on the board just over a minute later, as Reesing found Dexton Fields for a 26-yard touchdown strike.
The Rockets made the score 45-13 in the final seconds of the game, with a seven-yard touchdown run from Collins.
Kansas rolled up 557 yards of total offense, including 232 yards on the ground.
