Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Graham Harrell threw for a career-high six touchdown passes, as the Texas Tech Red Raiders trampled the Rice Owls, 59-24, in a non-conference tilt from Rice Stadium.

Harrell went 28-of-37 for 414 yards passing and an interception for Texas Tech (3-0). Freshman wideout Michael Crabtree caught the bulk of those passes, finishing with 11 receptions for 244 yards and three touchdowns.

For the Owls (0-3), Chase Clement went 20-of-37 for 212 yards passing, two touchdowns and an interception. Jarett Dillard tallied six catches for 90 yards and a score.

The Red Raiders' first score came on an 11-yard pass from Harrell to Shannon Woods with 12:07 to play in the opening quarter.

Harrell found Grant Walker for a 38-yard scoring strike at the 6:33 mark of the first quarter to cap off a seven-play, 91-yard drive for Texas Tech.

Rice countered with a 13-play, 66-yard drive, but the Owls could only muster three points on a 25-yard field goal by Clark Fangmeier.

Early in the second quarter, Clement connected with Toren Dixon for a 13-yard touchdown pass to narrow the gap to 14-10.

But two minutes later, the Red Raiders responded with a touchdown on a two- yard scamper by Woods.

The Owls answered once again, this time on a 47-yard touchdown pass from Clement to Jarett Dillard.

Harrell came back with a 74-yard scoring strike to Crabtree with 7:33 to play in the half, and then a 10-yard touchdown pass to Eric Morris to give Texas Tech a 35-17 halftime lead.

Harrell connected with Crabtree again for a nine-yard touchdown at the 11:30 mark of the third quarter.

Kobey Lewis added a one-yard touchdown run in the quarter for the Red Raiders, who opened the fourth quarter with a 49-17 lead.

In the opening minute of the third quarter, Harrell found Crabtree for a 25- yard touchdown pass.

Rice's C.J. Ugokwe supplied a seven-yard touchdown run with 10:18 to play.

Texas Tech kicker Alex Trlica closed out the scoring with a 39-yard field goal for the Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders' passing attack was in full force, averaging a healthy 14.1 yards per completion. Texas Tech scored on all five of its red-zone opportunities. Crabtree, with just three games on his collegiate resume, has already amassed eight receiving touchdowns for the Red Raiders.
