Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Chase Daniel threw five touchdown passes and amassed a career-high 396 total yards, as the Missouri Tigers pulled out a 38-25 road win over the Ole Miss Rebels in a non-conference tilt.
Daniel went 31-of-42 passing for Missouri (2-0), and all five of his touchdown passes came on consecutive series. Tony Temple carried 17 times for 123 yards, providing the Tigers with a balanced attack. William Franklin led the receiving corps with eight catches for 105 yards and two TDs.
For Ole Miss (1-1), BenJarvus Green-Ellis had a career-high 226 yards on the ground. Seth Adams was 23-of-41 for 305 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Mike Wallace kept busy, catching seven passes for 136 yards and a score.
After a scoreless first quarter, Daniel hooked up with Franklin for a 10-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the second quarter.
Five minutes later, those two connected on a 40-yard scoring strike.
With 4:24 to play in the half, Daniel tossed a 40-yard touchdown dart to Martin Rucker to give the Tigers a 21-0 lead.
The Rebels got on the board with 1:09 to play in the half, when Adams threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Shay Hodge.
But Missouri made it 28-7 on a seven-yard touchdown pass from Daniel to Chase Coffman with just four seconds on the clock.
Daniel opened the second half with a 37-yard touchdown pass to Greg Bracey.
Two plays later, Ole Miss responded as Adams found Wallace for a 68-yard touchdown pass and catch.
Jeff Wolfert added a 27-yard field goal for Missouri, extending the Tigers' lead to 38-13.
The Rebels scored the final two touchdowns of the game on a three-yard touchdown pass from Adams to Greg Hardy, and a two-yard run by Green-Ellis.
Missouri was able to keep drives alive by going an efficient 9-of-16 on third downs.
