NCAA Game Summary - Kent State at Kentucky

Final Score: Kent State 20 - Kentucky 56

Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Andre' Woodson passed for 218 yards and two scores, as the Kentucky Wildcats handily defeated the Kent State Golden Flashes 56-20 in non-conference action from Commonwealth Stadium.

Rafael Little led a Wildcat rushing attack that amassed 266 yards with 102 yards on just 13 carries. Keenan Burton hauled in seven catches for 109 yards and a score, while Steve Johnson added 71 yards and a touchdown of his own in the Kentucky (2-0) victory.

Julian Edelman ran for 135 yards for KSU (1-1), and was also 12-of-28 for 129 yards through the air. Edelman also tossed a touchdown and an interception in the setback. Eugene Jarvis added 131 yards on the ground and also found the end zone for the Golden Flashes.

Early in the first quarter, Leneric Muldrow capped an 80 yard, 12-play drive with a six-yard run that gave Kent State an early 7-0 lead.

Kentucky responded just minutes later with a drive of their own (7 plays, 70 yards) culminating in a five-yard John Conner touchdown scamper that tied things at seven.

With 13 seconds remaining in the period, Kentucky struck again, as Andre Woodson connected with Steve Johnson for a 32-yard score.

Kent State evened things up late in the second, as Eugene Jarvis found the end zone after a 10-yard run, and the contest went into halftime deadlocked at 14 apiece.

Early in the third quarter, Kentucky broke the tie as Conner dashed into the end zone for a second time, a 16-yard run that gave the Wildcats a 21-14 advantage.

Kentucky scored again midway through the period, as Tony Dixon broke free for an 18-yard run to increase the Wildcat lead to 28-14.

Just minutes later, Kentucky struck again, as Woodson completed a 51-yard touchdown pass to Keenan Burton and the Wildcats continued to surge, 35-14.

Kent State scored in the closing minute of the quarter, as Julian Edelman completed a 22-yard pass to Jarvis to make it a 35-20 game.

Kentucky pulled further ahead early in the fourth quarter, as Woodson scored on a one-yard run to give the Wildcats a 42-20 lead.

Kentucky continued its onslaught midway through the final period, as Alfonso Smith found the end zone following a 12-yard run to increase the Wildcat lead to 49-20.

Kentucky scored for the sixth time in the second half with under five minutes left to play on a 67-yard run by Derrick Locke, cementing a 56-20 Kentucky victory.
