Final Score: Ball State 38 - Eastern Mich 16

Ypsilanti, MI (Sports Network) - Nate Davis threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Ball State Cardinals to a 38-16 triumph over the Eastern Michigan Eagles in Mid-American Conference action from Rynearson Stadium.

Davis completed 19-of-38 pass attempts, as BSU (1-1, 1-1 MAC) defeated EMU for the third straight time. Dante Love also had a big game for the Cardinals, catching seven balls for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

Andy Schmitt paced the Eagles (0-2, 0-1) in defeat with 155 passing yards and a touchdown on 16-of-24 tosses. His main target was DeAnthony White, who hauled in seven passes for 94 yards and a score.

BSU got on the board first, as Davis threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Darius Hill less than five minutes into the game.

It took EMU less than five minutes to counter with a Sean Dutcher 41-yard field goal.

Late in the opening frame, the Cardinals responded, as Davis connected with Joe Everett from 15 yards away, pushing their lead to 14-3.

The Eagles notched their first touchdown late in the second quarter, when Schmitt hooked up with White for a 67-yard scoring strike. The extra-point attempt, however, was unsuccessful.

With under two minutes to play before the half, BSU struck twice to take a 24-9 lead into he break. Davis, first, threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Love and then Jake Hogue nailed a 42-yard field goal.

Following a scoreless third quarter, MiQuale Lewis gave the Cardinals a 31-9 lead, as he scurried three yards for a score less than five minutes into the final frame.

BSU continued to pour it on, as Davis completed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Love late in the fourth quarter.

Dontayo Gage returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, but it wasn't nearly enough for EMU in the 38-16 setback.

BSU converted 11-of-20 third downs in the contest, while EMU made just 3-of-13 third down attempts.
