NCAA Game Summary - Bowling Green at Minnesota

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Tyler Sheehan's two-point conversion pass to Fred Barnes led the Bowling Green Falcons to a dramatic 32-31 overtime victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a non-conference season opener.

Sheehan completed 34-of-51 passes for 388 yards and three scores for Bowling Green (1-0).

Amir Pinnix ran for 168 yards and scored three total touchdowns for Minnesota (0-1).

The first half belonged to Bowling Green, as it owned a 21-0 lead by intermission. Sheehan threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Eric Ransom just over one minute into the clash, and the quarterback then caught a 24-yard touchdown pass as well. The third and final score of the first half came on a seven-yard run by Anthony Turner.

Trailing 21-0, Minnesota cut into its deficit by generating the only points of the third quarter on a four-yard touchdown run by Pinnix.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, Minnesota quarterback Adam Weber tossed a 13-yard scoring strike to Ernie Wheelwright to cut the Gophers' deficit to 21-14. They continued to pour it on, eventually taking a 24-21 lead on a four-yard touchdown reception by Pinnix and a 33-yard field goal by Jason Giannini.

Bowling Green showed its toughness by driving 12 plays at the end of regulation, culminating with a game-tying field goal by Sinisa Vrvillo.

Pinnix scored on a 23-yard run on the first series of overtime. Minnesota then kicked the extra point to make the score 31-24 in favor of the Gophers.

Sheehan answered right back with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Marques Parks. The Falcons decided to go for the win with a two-point conversion, and Sheehan connected with Fred Barnes.
