Tulsa quickly regained the lead when Adams rumbled into the end zone on a five-yard run with just second left in the opening stanza.

Things slowed down a bit in the second quarter, until Lancaster hit LaGregory Sapp with a 10-yard scoring strike, putting the Warhawks on top, 17-14. Those were the only points put on the scoreboard in the quarter, as ULM took the slim lead into the break.

The second half belong to Tulsa, as the team regained the lead early in the third quarter when Smith found A. J. Whitmore for a 15-yard touchdown pass.

Minutes later Smith struck again, this time he hit Trae Johnson with a 41-yard scoring strike, which extended Tulsa lead to 28-17.

The icing on the cake was a four-yard touchdown run by Chris Chamberlain midway through the final stanza. The score put the Golden Hurricane ahead by 18 points and the team never looked back.

Tulsa opened the season red-hot offensively, recording 28 first downs, while collecting a whopping 523 total yards.
