(22) Kentucky (7-3) at (8) Georgia (8-2)

GAME NOTES: Two teams with lofty postseason aspirations meet in Athens this Saturday, as the eighth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs host the 22nd-ranked Kentucky Wildcats. After winning its first five games of the season, Kentucky had its sights set on the SEC title and perhaps even the national championship. Unfortunately, the squad has fallen off pace to achieve those goals, as it currently owns a 7-3 record. Last weekend, the Wildcats halted a two-game skid with a 27-20 decision over Vanderbilt. While teams such as Kentucky, Florida and LSU have garnered much attention in the SEC this season, Georgia has quietly put together a tremendous campaign and has steadily risen in the national rankings. At 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the league standings, the Bulldogs are very much alive for a trip to the conference title game. They close out their league schedule against Kentucky on Saturday and have just a non- conference rivalry game against Georgia Tech remaining. Georgia holds a commanding 47-11-2 series lead over Kentucky, but the Wildcats won last year's clash in a 24-20 final.

Although he is no longer a serious Heisman candidate, Kentucky quarterback Andre Woodson is still one of the top signal callers in the nation. Through 10 games, Woodson has completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 2,653 yards and 29 touchdowns with only seven interceptions. Woodson has also run for three scores and provides a tremendous amount of leadership. There is no shortage of viable targets at receiver, as Keenan Burton, Dicky Lyons, Steve Johnson and Jacob Tamme have all caught at least 38 passes and four touchdowns. The ground attack is often overshadowed by the passing game, but Kentucky is averaging 171.5 rushing ypg. In the win over Vanderbilt last weekend, Woodson completed 17- of-28 passes for 222 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. Rafael Little, the team's dynamic tailback, showed off his versatility by running for 70 yards while catching four passes for 49 yards.

Opponents are scoring 28.1 ppg against Kentucky, which is yielding 388.0 total ypg. The Wildcats are giving up more yards on the ground (197.3 ypg) than they are through the air (190.7 ypg), an oddity in the sport. Of the 31 touchdowns that Kentucky has permitted to foes, 16 have been passing scores. With 20 sacks and 18 takeaways, there has not been an abundance of impact plays made by the defense, and the unit can best be described as inconsistent. One player that can always be counted on for maximum effort is Wesley Woodyard, who has made 102 total tackles, 50 more than his closest teammate. Vanderbilt was able to rack up 30 first downs and 432 total yards against Kentucky last weekend, but somehow the 'Cats kept to Commodores to 20 points. Turnovers can't be the reason, as Kentucky finished the tilt with just one takeaway. Vandy did miss a pair of field goals, and that certainly helped the cause.

Last weekend, Georgia cruised to a 45-20 victory over Auburn in a game that wasn't nearly as close as expected. The Bulldogs racked up 417 total yards, as they were effective both running and passing the football. Freshman Knowshon Moreno was outstanding once again, as he carried the ball 22 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Thomas Brown returned from injury to compile 81 rushing yards and one score. As for quarterback Matthew Stafford, he made the most of his 11 completions by passing for 237 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Sean Bailey was the best of the receivers, as he made four grabs for 96 yards and one touchdown. Georgia is scoring 32.8 ppg this season to go along with 383.4 total ypg. Moreno may be the best tailback in the SEC, major praises for a rookie. He has rushed for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 5.5 ypc. Stafford has thrown 17 touchdowns against seven interceptions, and Bailey has four receiving scores.

Give the Georgia defense a ton of credit for its effort against Auburn last weekend, as the Bulldogs limited the Tigers to 216 total yards in the clash. Only 83 rushing yards were gained against Georgia on 35 carries, a tremendous showing by the defense. Of course, three sacks totaling 32 yards in losses had an impact on that stat line. The Bulldogs also limited Auburn to fewer than 10 yards per pass completion. Opponents are scoring 22.2 ppg against Georgia this season while gaining 328.4 total ypg. The Bulldogs have yielded 3.6 rushing yards per carry, a solid figure. Although their total of 16 takeaways for the season is a bit low, they have recorded 24 sacks. Dannell Ellerbe leads Georgia with 73 total tackles, and he has recorded nine TFLs.

Expect this game to be close, but give the edge to the home team. Expect the Bulldogs to pound Moreno and Brown at Kentucky, eventually wearing down the Wildcat defenders.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Georgia 31, Kentucky 20
