Arkansas (3-3) at Ole Miss (2-5)

FACTS & STATS: Site: Vaught-Hemingway (60,580) -- Oxford, Mississippi. Television: Local. Home Record: Arkansas 3-2, Ole Miss 1-3. Away Record: Arkansas 0-1, Ole Miss 1-2. GAME NOTES: An SEC battle is on the docket in Oxford this weekend, as the Ole Miss Rebels welcome the Arkansas Razorbacks to town. Arkansas carried a two- game winning streak into last weekend's matchup with Auburn, but that contest resulted in a 9-7 defeat. All three league games to date for the Razorbacks have ended in losses, as this club has clearly fallen short of preseason expectations. They own a 3-3 overall record but have yet to beat a strong opponent. Ole Miss is also winless in SEC play, as the Rebels own an even worse record of 0-4 in the league. They are fresh off a heart-breaking 27-24 setback to Alabama, the third time in the last four games that they have scored exactly 24 points. Arkansas pushed its all-time record against Ole Miss to 29-23-1 with a 38-3 romp over the Rebels a year ago.

Arkansas tailback Darren McFadden is considered by many fans and analysts to be the nation's premier football player. Fellow tailback Felix Jones is overshadowed a bit by his all-world teammate, but he is one of the best players at his position as well. With those two players on the field, it is hard to believe that Arkansas was limited to seven points by Auburn last weekend. The lone points scored by the Razorbacks came on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Casey Dick to Lucas Miller. Overall, Dick struggled once again, as he completed just 12-of-26 passes for 111 yards with an interception to go along with the touchdown. McFadden was held in check, as he gained only 43 rushing yards on 17 carries and five yards on his lone catch. As for Jones, he was able to average seven yards per rushing attempt, but he carried the ball a mere six times. Heading into the game, McFadden was considered by many to be the leading Heisman candidate, but his poor performance against Auburn changes things. He has rushed for 822 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 5.6 ypc. Jones has been significantly more impressive, averaging 10.2 ypc while rushing for 673 yards and five scores.

The Arkansas defense played well enough to win last week, but the lack of production from the team's offense prevented that from happening. Limiting Auburn to nine points has to be considered a moral victory for the Razorbacks, who yielded one field goal in the first quarter and two more in the fourth. They permitted just 290 total yards, including 3.6 ypc on the ground to Auburn and 7.8 yards per pass completion. Opponents are scoring 23.3 ppg against Arkansas, which is surrendering 342.0 total ypg. The Razorbacks have yielded eight rushing touchdowns and eight passing scores through six games, and there is room for improvement against both means of attack. Opposing quarterbacks have completed fewer than 50 percent of their passes against Arkansas, but there has been some big plays made through the air.

By now, we know exactly what to expect from the Ole Miss offense. The Rebels have scored no fewer than 17 points and no more than 25 points in any game this season. They are averaging 22.0 ppg and 357.0 total ypg, numbers that aren't going to scare any opponents. The ground attack has been rather weak, accounting for 113.7 total ypg and three touchdowns. BenJarvus Green-Ellis is the team's top tailback, and he is an underrated player who would benefit from some better run blocking. A solid total of 13 touchdowns have been scored through the air, as the passing game is netting 12.7 yards per completion. Seth Adams has taken almost every snap this season under center, and while he has been intercepted 10 times, he isn't afraid to take a shot with his arm. Mike Wallace is second on the team in catches with 26, and five of those grabs have gone for scores. Adams threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns against Alabama last weekend, but his three interceptions proved too great an obstacle to overcome.

Opponents are posting 27.4 ppg and 436.6 total ypg against Ole Miss, which has plenty of room for improvement on the defensive side of the ball. Of the 25 touchdowns that the Rebels have permitted to opposing offenses, 16 have come on the ground. Foes are gaining 194.6 rushing ypg against Ole Miss on 4.6 ypc, numbers that help explain the 2-5 overall record. The pass defense is yielding 242.0 ypc, and while the defensive unit as a whole has struggled, one individual has excelled. Greg Hardy has posted 16 TFLs, including eight sacks, in just seven outings, and he will command plenty of attention from Arkansas blockers on Saturday. Last weekend, Ole Miss allowed 27 points to Alabama, a number that was too great for the offense of the Rebels to overcome.

Arkansas averages just under 300 rushing yards per game, and the Razorbacks figure to throw a big dose of McFadden and Jones at the Rebels. Expect McFadden to play with a chip on his broad shoulders after last weekend's poor showing.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Arkansas 23, Ole Miss 20
