CFL Game Summary - Montreal at Hamilton

Final Score: Montreal 33 - Hamilton 10

Hamilton, ON (Sports Network) - Anthony Calvillo completed 25-of-37 passes for 293 yards and two scores, vaulting into second overall on the CFL's all-time passing list in Montreal's 33-10 pasting of Hamilton in the season-opener for both clubs.

Calvillo entered the game 205 yards shy of Danny McManus (53,255) and easily passed that mark, moving into sole possession of second place with 53,343 yards. Damon Allen is well ahead in first place, with 72,381 yards.

Kerry Watkins had six catches for 102 yards and two scores for the Alouettes (1-0). Avon Cobourne gained 107 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown, and added six catches for 55 yards for Montreal, which won its first game under new head coach Marc Trestman, as it tries to rebound from an 8-10 finish last season.

Casey Printers threw for 203 yards on 15-of-21 passing and fumbled for the Tiger-Cats (0-1), the CFL's worst team last season at 3-15. Tailback Jesse Lumsden was limited to 36 yards on nine carries for Hamilton, which fell into a 16-0 hole in the first half and never recovered.

Tre Smith's 75-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the lone bright spot for the Ticats.

After a 31-yard Damon Duval field goal gave Montreal a 3-0 lead, Calvillo and Watkins connected on a nine-yard score, capping a nine-play, 45-yard drive for a 10-0 first-quarter edge.

Two Duval field goals, from 20 and 28 yards out, pushed the Alouettes to a 16-0 lead in the second quarter before Nick Setta finally got Hamilton on the board with a 17-yard field goal.

Calvillo passed McManus in the record books in the third quarter, then found Watkins in the end zone a few plays later, and the rout was on. The 32-yard touchdown boosted Montreal to a 23-3 lead.

Cobourne's three-yard scoring burst in the fourth quarter put Hamilton in a 30-3 hole. The Montreal lead reached 33-3 after a 39-yard field goal by Duval, before Smith burst through the Alouettes defense for his 75-yard scamper.
