NCAA Game Summary - Pittsburgh at Syracuse
Syracuse, NY (Sports Network) - Sam Young scored 19 points to lead five Pittsburgh players in double figures, as the Panthers notched an 82-77 win over the Syracuse Orange in a Big East Conference showdown at the Carrier Dome.
Keith Benjamin added 17 points for the Panthers (21-8, 9-7 Big East), who have responded from a recent three-game skid with back-to-back wins. Levance Fields chipped in with 13 points, while Ronald Ramon and Gilbert Brown scored 12 apiece.
The Orange (17-12, 7-9) were led by Jonny Flynn, who scored 28 points in a losing effort. Donte Green also got involved, scoring 23 points, while Paul Harris chipped in with 18.
Syracuse got off to a fast start, shooting 59.1 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 37-35 lead at the break.
The Panthers stormed back in the second stanza, knocking down 17-of-29 shots from the field, en route to the five-point victory.
The Panthers bench was the difference in this game, as Pittsburgh's reserves outscored the Orange Bench, 13-1.
