Hempstead, NY (Sports Network) - The Hofstra Pride closed out the regular season with a 56-48 win over the Drexel Dragons in Colonial Athletic Association play at the Mack Sports Complex.
Antoine Agudio, who became Hofstra's all-time scoring leader Wednesday night against Delaware, finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Charles Jenkins added 10 points and eight boards for the Pride (12-17, 8-10 CAA), and he has scored in double figures in 26 of 27 games on the season.
Tramayne Hawthorne and Scott Rodgers paced Drexel (12-19, 5-13) with 13 points apiece.
Hofstra led by as many as 17 with five minutes to play in the first half, but the Dragons closed out the half with an 11-2 run, narrowing the deficit to 29-21 at the half.
Drexel made it a 46-45 game with under three minutes to play in regulation, but Hofstra guard Greg Johnson took over from there, scoring seven unanswered points to carry the Pride to victory.
Hofstra locks up the eighth seed for next week's CAA Tournament and will play either Towson or Georgia State at noon on Friday. The winner of that contest advances to play top-seeded Virginia Commonwealth the following day.
