Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Dominique Jones scored 29 points, leading the South Florida Bulls to an 89-78 Big East win over Syracuse.
Kentrell Gransberry did his part with 23 points and nine rebounds for the Bulls (11-14, 2-10 Big East), who finally halted their losing streak at 10 games. Jesus Verdejo chipped in with 19 points, while Solomon Bozeman scored 10 off the bench.
Donte Green led Syracuse (16-9, 6-6) with 17 points, followed by Jonny Flynn with 16. Paul Harris dished out six assists to go along with his 14 points, while Scoop Jardine tallied 10 points and seven helpers.
The Bulls had the hot hand in the first half, knocking down five three-pointers and shooting 53.6 percent from the floor en route to a 38-24 halftime lead.
USF sealed the long-awaited victory with a 61.9-percent shooting effort in the second stanza, in addition to a 23-of-27 showing from the foul line.
The Bulls shot a healthy 46.7 percent on their long-range attempts, as they led by as many as 20 before the final buzzer.
