Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Trent Meacham scored a game-high 19 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Illinois Fighting Illini defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 84-60, in Big Ten Conference play at Williams Arena.

Meacham knocked down all five of his three-point tries for the Illini (11-14, 3-9 Big Ten) as they snapped a three-game slide. Shaun Pruitt added 13 points while Demetri McCamey and Mike Tisdale dropped in 10 points apiece.

The Golden Gophers (15-8, 5-6) were paced by Blake Hoffarber and Lawrence Westbrook with 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Damian Johnson responded with nine points and the team-best 10 boards as the squad had a brief two-game win streak halted.

Both teams shot better than 57 percent from the field in the first half, with Illinois recording a 39-33 advantage at the break.

In the second half Minnesota was stop dead with a mere 8-of-39 shooting from the field, including 3-of-13 beyond the arc, allowing the Illini to cruise to the 24-point road triumph.

Illinois, which has now won 18 in a row over the Golden Gophers, representing the longest active win streak by on Big Ten school over a conference foe, finished the contest shooting at an impressive 58.8 percent clip from the floor and 7-of-13 out on the perimeter.

This two teams will meet up again for the regular-season finale on March 8 at Assembly Hall in Champaign.
