Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Wink Adams scored a team-high 13 points to help lead the UNLV Runnin' Rebels to a 58-51 win over the Air Force Falcons in Mountain West Conference play at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Rebels (19-5, 8-2 MWC) were Corey Bailey and Joe Darger who contributed 11 points apiece in the team's second straight win and the seventh in the last eight outings.
The Falcons (12-11, 4-6) had Andrew Henke come off the bench and produce a game-high 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting behind the three-point line. Keith Maren pitched in with 11 points and eight rebounds as the academy fell for third straight outing.
The teams traded leads throughout the first half, but a nine-point edge for UNLV with three and a half minutes to play was eventually whittled down to a 26-24 score in favor of the Rebels at the intermission.
A quick burst out of the box to start the second half resulted in a 7-0 run for Air Force, but the advantage was short-lived and eventually transformed into a seven-point win for the host Rebels.
Not known for getting a leg up in the rebounding department, the Falcons actually held a 32-31 edge in that area, but shooting only 39.6 percent from the field and 4-of-10 at the charity stripe was too much for the academy to get beyond.
