Greenville, SC (Sports Network) - Alex Opacic's double-double led the way for the Paladins, as Furman captured a 69-59 victory over the UNC Greensboro Spartans in Southern Conference action at the Timmons Arena.
Opacic finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds for Furman (5-19, 4-11 SoCon), while George Brozos also posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards. Justin Dehm contributed 10 points in the win for Furman.
Kyle Hines netted 15 points for UNCG (13-9, 7-6), while Kevin Oleksiak chipped in 11 points, despite connecting on only 3-of-16 shots from the floor.
The Paladins held the Spartans to a meager 31.0 percent shooting effort from the floor in the first half and went into the break with a 32-30 lead.
Furman held UNCG at bay in the second stanza, as the team posted a 42.9 percent shooting effort from the field en route to the 10-point win.
The Paladins' bench posted 25 points in the game, while UNC Greensboro's reserves tallied 13 points.
