Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Lavoy Allen and Mark Tyndale both scored 20 points apiece to lead the Temple Owls to a thrilling, 80-70 overtime victory over the Massachusetts Minutemen in Atlantic-10 action at the Liacouras Center.
Dionte Christmas added 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Temple (12-10, 5-3 A-10), while Sergio Olmos chipped in 10 points in the win.
Etienne Brower netted 21 points for UMass (15-8, 4-5), while Ricky Harris tallied 14 points. Gary Forbes posted 12 points to go along with 12 rebounds and seven assists, while Chris Lowe chipped in 11 points.
Despite shooting 33.3 percent from the floor in the first half, the Owls went into the break with a 29-27 advantage.
The Minutemen hung tough in the second stanza, netting 7-of-14 attempts from behind the arc, sending the game into overtime tied at 64-64.
In the extra session, the Owls made 11-of-12 attempts from the foul line en route to the 10-point win.
Temple made 22-of-24 attempts from the charity stripe in the win, while UMass connected on only 8-of-14 free throw shots.
