NCAA Game Summary - Indiana at Ohio State

Final Score: Indiana 59 - Ohio State 53

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - D.J. White poured in 21 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the 14th-ranked Indiana Hoosiers over the Ohio State Buckeyes, 59-53, in Big Ten action at Value City Arena.

Eric Gordon tallied 15 points for the Hoosiers (20-3, 9-1 Big Ten), who have triumphed in three straight outings. Jordan Crawford did a little bit of everything, scoring eight points while grabbing six boards and distributing a game-high seven assists, helping Indiana improve to 6-1 on the road.

Kosta Koufos provided 18 points and reeled in nine rebounds in the losing effort, as Ohio State (16-8, 7-4) has dropped two of its last three contests. Jon Diebler chipped in with 14 points off the pine, but it was not enough for the Buckeyes to avoid slipping to 12-2 as the host.

"We just didn't have what we needed against a team like Indiana," commented Ohio State head coach Thad Matta. "They are a great team. We weren't capable of making plays that we needed to make. We played better the second half, but it wasn't enough."

Ohio State pushed Indiana to the brink, cutting the deficit to three points with a 14-6 flurry. The barrage featured eight points from Diebler, while Evan Turner's free throw made it a one possession game, 46-43, with 5:44 to play.

The score stood at 53-49 when the clock crossed the 1:00 mark. After an Armon Bassett errant three-pointer, the Buckeyes cleaned up the glass and had an opportunity to come within a point, but could not convert. David Lighty was whistled for an offensive foul, and the Hoosiers regained possession.

With 30 seconds left in the game and the score stuck at 53-49, Ohio State was forced to foul, and Indiana connected on all six of its chances at the charity stripe to seal the victory.

"I thought our young guys were really good tonight," Indiana head coach Kelvin Sampson said. "We played with poise and composure, and we did a good job trying to attack the zone with (Jamarcus) Ellis and D.J. (White) and play from the inside out."

The Buckeyes had the edge, 14-12, when the Hoosiers sparked a 17-7 scoring streak to finish the first frame. White highlighted the burst, netting 10 points and hauling in six boards. His layup as time expired gave Indiana its largest lead of the half, as the Hoosiers headed to the locker room with a 29-21 cushion.

Shortly after the break, Ohio State closed the gap, using an 8-0 spurt to pull within two points. Turner capped the burst with a free throw, and the Buckeyes trailed, 31-29, with 16:44 to go.

The Hoosiers responded immediately, though, ripping off a 9-0 run. Kyle Taber hit a layup with 13:14 remaining, and Indiana stretched its advantage to double-digits, 40-29.
