Kent, OH (Sports Network) - Rodriguez Sherman and Al Fisher both scored 16 points as the Kent State Golden Flashes defeated the Northern Illinois Huskies, 82-67, in Mid-American Conference action at the M.A.C. Center.
Mike Scott added 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds for Kent State (19-5, 8-2 MAC) as the team won its second straight and the fifth in six tries. Chris Singletary contributed 11 points and Rashad Woods 10 off the bench.
The Huskies (5-17, 2-8), losers of five straight, were paced by Darion Anderson and his 15 points, followed by Michael Hart with 12, Shaun Logan 11 points and Ben Rand 10 in the setback.
KSU shot an incredible 11-of-14 behind the three-point line in the first half, while the Huskies missed all four of their long-distance tries, translating to a 48-25 lead at the break for the home team.
In the second half the Golden Flashes continued to shoot the ball well from the floor at a 52.4 percent clip, allowing the squad to cruise to the 15-point triumph.
NIU outscored the Flashes in the paint, 38-20, but that's only because Kent State was performing so well out on the perimeter (15-of-24).
