Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Al Nolen scored 11 points and dished out eight assists to lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers to a 63-50 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in Big Ten Conference play at Williams Arena.
The Golden Gophers (15-7, 5-5 Big Ten) also received 11 points apiece from Spencer Tollackson and Lawrence McKenzie. Dan Coleman added 10 points for Minnesota, which has now won three of its last four contests.
The Hawkeyes (11-14, 4-8) were paced by Justin Johnson who scored 15 points in a losing effort. Tony Freeman added 12 points, while Seth Gorney chipped in with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Despite shooting an impressive 55.6 percent from the field in the first half, Iowa still found itself trailing at the break, 34-25.
The Golden Gophers pulled away in the second stanza, knocking down 4-of-9 three-point attempts, en route to a 13-point win.
Minnesota controlled the boards in the victory, outrebounding Iowa 31-23 on the day and limiting the visitors to a mere two offensive rebounds.
