New Haven, CT (Sports Network) - Alex Zampier scored 18 points, leading five players in double figures, as the Yale Bulldogs defeated the Harvard Crimson, 83-70, in Ivy League action at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
Zampier also recorded six rebounds and six assists for the Bulldogs (8-11, 2-3 Ivy) as they snapped a three-game slide. Caleb Holmes chipped in 16 points off the bench, Porter Braswell 12, while Nick Holmes and Eric Flato tallied 11 points apiece in the win.
The Crimson (6-15, 1-4), losers of four in a row, were paced by Evan Harris and his game-high 23 points, followed by Andrew Pusar and Brad Unger with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Harvard (45.0 percent) actually shot better than the Bulldogs (43.6 percent) from the field in the first half, yet it was Yale that claimed a 44-28 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Bulldogs converted a sizzling 59.3 percent from the field in order to capture the 13-point home triumph.
Harvard was guilty of 21 turnovers on the night and shot just 4-of-16 behind the three-point line.
