NCAA Game Summary - Fairfield at Manhattan
Riverdale, NY (Sports Network) - Herbie Allen posted game highs of 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Fairfield Stags recorded a 66-61 win over the Manhattan Jaspers in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at Draddy Gym.
Mike Evanovich added 12 points for the Stags (9-14, 7-6 MAAC) as they won their second in a row, followed by Greg Nero and Jonathan Han with 10 points apiece.
The Jaspers (8-15, 2-11), losers of eight straight and 11 of the last 12 contests, were paced by Devon Austin who tallied 12 points in just 17 minutes of action before fouling out.
Fairfield shot a mere 37.5 percent from the field in the first half, but five of those nine made baskets were from three-point range, enabling the team to stay within a point at the break, 28-27.
In the second half the Stags boosted their accuracy from the floor to 55 percent and also sank 12-of-15 at the free-throw line to secure the five-point road win.
The difference in the contest came at the free-throw line where Fairfield outscored Manhattan, 16-11.
