Evanston, IL (Sports Network) - Spencer Tollackson scored 19 points, leading six players in double figures for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, who cruised to a 92-72 road win over Big Ten-foe Northwestern.
Lawrence McKenzie and Jamal Abu-Shamala each tallied 16 points in the win for Minnesota (14-7, 4-5 Big Ten), while Blake Hoffarber netted 15. Lawrence Westbrook added 12 points to go with 10 assists and seven boards, while Dan Coleman chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds.
Kevin Coble posted a game-high 22 points to pace Northwestern (7-13, 0-9), while Craig Moore and Michael Thompson scored 19 points apiece in a losing effort.
The Golden Gophers shot an impressive 54.2 percent from the field in the first half, in addition to a 15-of-17 effort from the foul line, as they opened up a 47-33 halftime lead.
The Wildcats picked it up with a 55.6-percent shooting effort in the second stanza, but the halftime deficit proved too much.
Northwestern was out-rebounded, 38-22, in the loss.
